  1. Apart from 3 very senior Archers actresses who are the only soap performers to be listed above William Roache on the site that lists longest performing 'soapstars', what about Leonard Fenton (94) who was the original doctor in Eastenders? William Russell (96) was not only in Coronation Street but also the first episode of Dr Who. Mark Eden who has just died was not only in Coronation Street but also the first series of Dr Who.

What about Ray Brooks who played the bartender in Carry On Abroad?

82 next year and his last role was also in Eastenders (13 years ago)

He's well known for other stuff mainly like Mr Benn, Big Deal etc but may be considered too young and with no word on his condition the committee may cast his inclusion aside.

Ray Brooks voiced the Rupert Bear series on BBC1 in the late 80's. He famously said that the inane rhyming couplets & the repetitious format of the series meant he was as drunk as possible without slurring the words before each session in the recording studio.

  3. For many years while Desmond Morris was presenting Zootime, his namesake Johnny Morris (no relation) was presenting a similar programme on the only other  UK channel called Animal Magic. Only one of the presenters resorted to animal impressions.

  4. Three retired cartoonists of famous strips to look out for next year:

Wally Fawkes (Trog) [97 next year] drew Flook for the Daily Mail & very briefly for the Daily Mirror

Enrique Romero [91 next year] drew Axa for The Sun

Bill Tidy [88 next year] drew The Fosdyke Saga for The Daily Mirror

    Good spot!

*Born Daisy Gwendoline Fuller in Romford, Essex in October 1919 according to records.
*Living according to all 5 family trees on Ancestry which include her (one profile of her updated as recent as September 2020)
*Based in Hereford, Herefordshire at the last publicly available census (2005)
*Searched the GRO for Daisy Fuller (maiden name)/Daisy Letts (married name). Nothing since 2005.

So all evidence would suggest, yes, Rose West's mum is still alive. :o

She was still alive on 8 October 2019 according to an online newspaper article so would be 101 now.

I met her a few times and she was a friend of a close friend. Totally mad.

She had been sick for ages. Chain smoker, refused to quit.

Formerly Lady Anson? She arranged a disco for a very young Prince Charles & initially refused to believe that the DJ wanted as much as £25 "just to play records"!

Aye, Sunday Times had that too - major television star is secretly ego-monster with nasty sideline in the way he treats colleagues

I mean, I was shocked to read that - all those television presenters come across as such nice people!

Nick Ross appeared on TV after Frank Bough's death & was genuinely moved & only had good things to say about him.  Perhaps Selina Scott needs the money? I remember that Prince Andrew was once associated with her - the rumour being that she was like his sister-in-law so as Diana was off limits, then he hoped to get as close as possible!

  8. How about Ronald Pellar? He was 100 earlier this year & was the 7th & final husband of Lana Turner (1921-95). He is also in the record books as having been paid the largest fee ever for a lecture. He is also linked to James Randi as having been a hynotist/illusionist.

Yes I kind of forgot about him as well!  I was thinking mainly of US politicians who weren't presidents as they belong in a seperate category -   kind of like the French ones - Giscard d'Estaing being former President whereas the other two  (Delors/Le-Pen.) are just very well known politicians that didn't attain the Highest office.

Philippe de Gaulle who is 99 in December & a retired admiral as well as the only remaining child of President de Gaulle must be a worthy 2021 pick?

  10. Happy 109th birthday  today to Eileen Ash (nee Whelan). She is a genuine link to the past as the first of her 7 Test matches for England was in 1937 - only 83 years ago! She is the only living cricketer whose life overlaps that of W G Grace who died in 1915  - the last known photo of him is a few weeks before his death at a cricket match (spectating of course!) putting money in a Red Cross collecting box.

Brazilian longevity claim Olimpio Martins Pires died a couple of days aged 112/110 (or something less)

Currently alive longevity claimers are, atleast:

Billafunda (Siddha) Sayadaw U.Kowida who claims to be 1112 years old. I'd say remove around 1012 years and you'd get a more realistic age.

Maria Lucimar Pereira who claims to be 130. Remove around 50 years to get the actual number?

Alimihan Seyiti who claims to be 134. Doesn't look a day over 100.

Stephen Wright who claimed to be 119 but is apparently "only 108". If that is how old he actually is.

Also confirmed supercentenarian Julio Cesar Mora died three days ago aged 110. Was known for his and his wife's combined age of 115.

Wiki states that Karam & Katari Chand were married for 90 years 291 days before Karam died aged 110. Katari died 4 years later aged 107. They were married in a Sikh ceremony when Karam was 20 & Katari was only 13. The combined ages must be a record although Guinness refuse to recognise their achievement.

This would make the age of Mora's wife's  age only 5?

  13. The deaths of Joan Hocquard & Bob Weighton this year mean that the 2021 edition of Guinness World Records is now totally out of date. I saw the new version last week & was surprised as it had only just been published for next year that Bob Weighton was still listed (with a large photograph) as Britain's oldest man.
