  1. I would have thought every registered poster on here is connected with Pure Reason Revolution.

I have no business links with them, simply making the point that Syd's influence lives on strong. Be there or be square, or summat.

I don't understand that post at all .What are you talking about?

Still say that that we don't know if Syd was drug induced.

    Oh their your BAND.

  2. I saw Olivia de Havilland in Charge of the Light Brigade over the weekend and she looked pretty well I thought...

Indeed. And David Niven and Errol Flynn look like they have few years left in them too.

Lets review. Biggs is still in the lead although the froum as whole seems to think (know) that he is faking. Gerald Ford is maing up ground in what has been a good year for dying politicians. No-one has gone for a joke vote (i.e. Maradona) and as yet we have had no mods trying to shut the poll down.

Still say Les Paul is next to go.

  3. Ronnies gonna go soon methinks

(Posts passim)I think Ronnie is picking up the "emotional vote" and is probably in reasonably good health. Watch how in a few days he will discover some obscure reason, no doubt relating to love for his son, to come off the hunger strike.

  4. 10 have died so far, 40 are still to go. Who will be the next DL success of 2005?

The ranters choice is Fidel Castro. The popular choice is Ronnie Biggs. The safe money is on Brooke Astor. The "I'll put someone on the list ,even though they have no chance of dying, just because they cheated in a football match" option is Diego Maradona.

Bill Deedes, J.K. Galbraith, and Norman Wisdom are all in bad health. Patrick Moore could go at any time while chasing an intern around his study in a state of priapic fury. Liz Taylor could choke on an eclair (as the late Peter Cook once pointed out). Gerald Ford could fall off something. Could Peter O'Sullevan be near the finishing post? Is Byron Nelson heading for the 19th hole? Could Michael Foot get ambitious, try to walk the dog all the way down the hill to Chalk Farm and having a coronary failure trying to get back home? Will time do to Alexander Solzhenistyn what Stalin could not? Will High Noon come for Frankie Lane before December 31st?

    What say you?

  6. I do like MH's new signature.

Still say the glass in the food policy would have been good for Biggs.

As for what has he ever ever done. He said it himself on the Sex Pistols poster he "koshed the driver".

  7. But now it has to be Queen not only because their music is not that good (on the level of any other half way decent 70's rock band like Uriah Heep in fact) but also because of the vast posthoumous industry that has sprung uop around them-the musicals, the after death albums, the nonsense about Freddie being some sort of great human and humanitarian etc.

But does anyone actually go around contending Queen are one of the greatest bands, or they have the greatest albums, ever? I think the vast majority of people recognise Queen for what they were - over flamboyant rock gods whose music isn't to be taken seriously, but also a band who had some pretty decent songs, many of which have attained an almost legendary status - Bohemian Rhapsody, We will Rock You/We are the Champions, Another one Bites the Dust to name but three. Or is that four?

Quick, anyone, name a Uriah Heep song......

Yes they do. They are frequently rated alongside the Beatles and the Stones and the like (and yes I am aware that at least one of those bands has been hyped out of all proportion) and are talked to riiculous proportions. And the lead singer of Uriah Heep has never had a giant sliver statue of himself staring at the general public from the corner of Tottenham Court Road and new Oxford Street. What is with that thing?

And what is up with Freddie suddenly being proclaimed as some sort of hero for the dissposessed? Coke addled, rent boy using millionaire maybe.

For a Uriah Heep song I would nominate Salisbury.

For Roger Taylor I would say he has a good few years of chasing ramblers off his estate and dating leggy blondes still to come.

  8. In that case I revise my earlier opion . They are not in fact the worst band in the world just the most overrated.

For most overrated band in the world, I'd go for Radiohead. They have what, 7 or 8 good songs, then got so full of themselves they decided to become musically inaccessible. OK Computer the best album of all time? Never - 3 decent tracks, the rest a bunch of impenetrable twiddles and beeps. And for years they refused to play the song that made them, "Creep", because, um, they're too important or something.

I did say that around the time that people started to talk about OK Computer as the best album of all itme.

  9. Well actually HCW i feel sorry i counted you out of the 1000 post race. There's a chance for you to pass the barrier before Notapotato does. Just play it Tempus style for the next couple days.

Well, this thread is as good as any other to write my opus 800 in.

    regards,

    Hein

That posting is hardly an opus now is it?

  10. More like the best band in the history of the world! Queen rocked!

And I don't particularly want to think about when Roger or Brian die thanks very much! If all musicians were as talented as them they would have those two to thank.

In that case I revise my earlier opion . They are not in fact the worst band in the world just the most overrated.

Still hate them for making me late getting home during the summer though.
