    When Deathlisters Go Shopping

For many years I have collected comics, guns, swords. I thought of wives, but the current Mrs Ravenstorm seems to object. Can't think why.

    12 In 2005?

You actually have a FAVOURITE soap character!! Although I have to admit I do to - all the dead ones.

    12 In 2005?

I was hoping one or two didn't go so we could start the new year with a bang. So to speak. That George Best never did anything you wanted him to.

The contents of Best's Liver. I didn't know he liked brandy. Perhaps I over did it but it was funny.

    George Best

I see he reached his'Best before' date. I read an interesting letter asking why there was B A coverage of the oldest surviving Scottish veteran of WW1 dying at 108, yet a washed up footballer merits specil bulletins and mulittudinous Tv remembrance programmes. He has a point methinks. I think by now he was more famous for being famously drunk than for hs football prowess. And before anyone gets on a high horse I think he was a great footballer and I have been a MU supporter since I was knee high to a grasshopper in Zim.

    Maryport!!!

It wasn't that bad when I was there at the turn of the 80 / 90's. it only really seems to have taken off as a gangster capital a few years ago.

    Maryport!!!

Honestly - a little dull. I wouldn't say it was quiet but there was a notable lack of semi-automatic weaponry.

    Treasonable Politicians

Do I understand you correctly CF? You seem to be saying that you would not mind losing your job and your friends and spending up to 90 days in gaol because you are not a terrorist. Or do you just trust the police completely. If they're that good, why do they think they need 90 days with no evidence? How would you feel if you found yourself under suspicion (mistakenly) and therefore under arrest? That is my point exactly. British Justice is full of miscarriages due to fabricated evidence, mistakem identity etc.I do appreciate the need for protection, but its somewhat worrying how often they get it wrong.

    Maryport!!!

Born in London, moved to South Africa, then Zimbabwe, back to Kent, up to Norfolk then Nottingham. Now happily ensconced in the peaceful realm of Northern Ireland (Belfast).

    Treasonable Politicians

I supose you'd be happy to sit in a jail for 3 months while they found out that oops we made a mistake and you're innocent. Never mind your lost job, house, friends. Not to mention the 'there's no smoke without fire' reaction. This government tries to hide too much and explain too little.

    Treasonable Politicians

Not least of which is Zimbabwe, which was my home for 16 years. But they don't have anything like massive oil reserves for us to use. Or is that just being cycnical?

    Career Death

[People only watch motorsport to see the crashes. The hope of a fatal wreck brings the crowds to an otherwise dull event. Safety has improved a great deal but tell that to Ayrton Senna. Not to mention Roland Ratzenberger.

    Career Death

There's a thread somewhere on this forum about Formula 1 deaths that includes several - like the infamous multiple deaths at Le Mans in 1955 - that top Diana's triple fatal. Not strictly on point, but there is now an extra chance of some old GP drivers not dying peacefully in their sleep. The first GP Masters race was held today in Kyalami with Mansell (52) and Emerson Fittipaldi (58) racing plus 12 other notables. As its coming back next year for 7 races - lots of potential there for a more career ending careering.

    World War I Veteran(s)

As far as I one of the oldest British survivors is now 109. He went back to France to lay a wreath this year. Sorry, Can't remember his name offhand and I'm too lazy to go and look on teletext.

Irate Visitors Rage Here, If You Must.

I take that these irate visitors all switch off the news when the death of a celebrity or otherwise is splashed across it. Listening to the local news this morning I heard four stories about road deaths, seriously ill celebrities or missing kids. Not much else. As they say 'good news is no news' At least here we can reminisce, share info and remember the contributions some of these people made to enriching our lives. It isn't about predictibg or wishing death on anyone. Ir's about finding out which great lights have gone out of the world and thinking about what they achieved - at least for me. Thank you anti-rant rant over!!

    Ideas and Possibilities for 2006

Surely the Titanic survivor would be worthy of note. Even if she isn't WELL known there's bound to be a bit of coverage if when she kicks off.
