Best pick up line ever; "Does this smell like chloroform to you?"

My Aussie naturalisation/lobotomy will only be considered complete when they force me to watch, Clockwork Orange-style, The Man From Snowy River, Galipolli, Strictly Ballroom, Muriel's Wedding and Australia. I'm happy to report they've not succeeded yet. Although I'm not proud of the fact that Señora honez got me to sit through the awful, The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert once. I did quite enjoy the happy-go-lucky tale of Romper Stomper though.

In a scoreline worthy of Fort William, the playoff-placed, once mighty Wrexham were on the wrong side of a 2-7 drubbing this weekend to mid-table Gateshead in the heady heights of the Blue Square Premiership. Words can't describe how gutted and shamed I feel right now. Surely after taking Wrexham to the top of the Premiership and winning the FA Cup in Championship Manager, the time is right for me to take up the reigns at the Racecourse.

Ian "Turps" Turpie, one of Australia's old-school entertainers has announced he's battling cancer. One to keep tabs on.

Rome was the next empire to fall after Egypt. Finger's crossed for history repeating itself (but in short order).

Stand in a line here so I can get a photo of your helmets.

Gravitational attraction: Neither has the energy, nor inclination to reach escape velocity to climb out of the gravity well of the other.

I guess he's be in a while... I was very saddened to hear of Gary Moore's demise. He was instrumental [sic] in the formation of my early musical tastes and was still a nostalgic favourite of mine whenever I heard him around and about. Shame that. I'll miss you Gazza. Time to break out the old turntable and blow the dust off some vinyl I think.

This kind of film is far from my preferred style, but I've got to admit, I thoroughly enjoyed Jeff Daniels and Emma Stone in Paper Man.

I thought they were only about £6 at the pet shop. Why not just replace it with a healthy one in the same colour and let the poorly one join the squirrels in the nearest wood with maybe a carrot for company? Jeez, the EC, inflation and VAT have a lot to answer for, a Guinea used to be £1.10p £1.05 back in my day. A Guinea foul? Well I never! I always thought a Guinea was 22 Shillings. A quick wikipedia search confirms I've been wrong for donkey's years.

I assume your one of the many that have decided to leave and seek out higher (and safer) ground Nah, although it was huge, Queensland's far bigger so we'll only get the tail end of the rain and monster surf down in the SE corner. Things were pretty rough up in the north by all accounts but seeing how a lot of towns were flattened by category 4 cyclone Larry five years ago (a mere pipsqueak at half the size of Yasi) they were rebuilt with a category 5 in mind, so it hasn't levelled the place like it would have a decade ago. This thing was the first grade 5 - and bigger than - the last one to hit in 1918. The same scale and ferocity as Hurricane Catrina that hit New Orleans. Anyway, I'd better dust off the surfboard and hit the beach before things calm down.

Torres Bewitched or I Dream of Genie?

Queensland's beautiful weather's about to serve up another treat in the form of Cyclone Yasi (that's a hurricane to you northern types). Windspeed was last measured on Willis Island at 295 km/h (180mph-ish) before the measurement equipment failed. Apparently this category 5 cyclone is the biggest and most powerful ever recorded to hit the Aussie coast. Batten down the hatches, the next day or so is gonna be interesting.

Try this... Floodmap And enter England in the Search field to see how big the area under (lots of) water was. -

Happy ostrayaday everyone. -
I've made it back from the old dart, jet lagged and cramped from far too long spent in far too small a space. I now understand why they don't allow sharp objects on board those flights, as four of my fellow international jet-setters would have alighted with makeshift metal shunts draining their vitreous humour if I'd had things my way. It was good to catch up with you HCW, albeit a few pints short of the requisite amount. Pappa Honez owes me big time >:-/ Depending on how things pan out, I might be back for a return trip next year. Maybe. At least then I might get some time for the finer things in life (like Guinness and a Desperate-Dan-style pile of chips and snags, for example. LOL.) rather than wasting it gallivanting around visiting relatives and the like. Cheers h

Back in the old country for a short while, I took Junior Honez to Wrexham's two home games on Monday and yesterday and I'm glad to report six points, two clean sheets, Wrexham in a playoff position and a young 'un that had a great time singing, shouting and yelling at the ref. Great stuff. C'mon the Reds!

The Ashes stay home! We already had them! Well done to the Poms, for once. I feel that last time, you won, but didn't earn it -- Australia (Ponting more like) gifted it to you with some baffling and very poor captancy. But this time you won it well, no questions asked. Like I said, well done. Now, shut up and let's get on with something else. -

You'd better give him a good send off then. It's what he would have wanted.
