Bo Diddley, another ageing blues/rocker - 78 in December - a man noted for giving his all in a gig, not shortchaning audiences. Note the level of activity on his news page. It'll be a nail-biter of WW1 veterans vs Titanic survivor dimensions as to whether Bo or Chuck peg out first.As much as I hate to think it, B.B. King may beat them both. I'm not in the mood at the moment to look for the article, but he's 81, admittedly slowing down (rightfully so), is in increasing discomfort and his head isn't as clear as it used to be. From what I hear of the man, he's as pleasant as they get and for me, a joy to listen to.

I have to wonder if Surreal Life co-star Ron Jeremy has visited Tammy at all since her cancer has taken her downhill. I just found the pairing of the two, on the surface complete moral opposites, peacefully co-existing and having some deal of appreciation for one another interesting to say the least.
Having been admitted to a hospice earlier this month, I'm with everyone who thinks that someone is getting ready to pull down the shades for her. If by some miracle she lasts to see New Year's, she'll be just about everyone's top choice/joker/whatever.

A beautiful episode that was. First Satan (dressed like a schoolgirl) approaches Irwin, not knowing it was Irwin, and said it was too soon after Irwin's death to wear a costume poking fun at the way he died. At that point, Irwin admits that it's no costume, he is Steve Irwin and gets kicked out for having no costume. That portion of the episode was funnier than Notorious B.I.G. being summoned in peoples' mirrors repeatedly while trying to get to Satan's party and Adolf Hitler being dressed as the annoying Verizon (cell phone company) "Can you hear me now?" guy.
Comedy Central defended the episode saying that the show has offended people before, and they'll continue to offend people...oh well, people are just going to have to deal with it.
Yeah, nothing may be sacred to Ras Kass, whoever that idiot it, but he's not in league with Matt Stone and Trey Parker of South Park. Truly NOTHING is sacred to that show.

No, no update on his health, but I look for an update on him about once a week and continue to find new article he's written. I take it as an indication that he's healthy enough to outwheel the grim reaper for atleast a couple weeks. When we stop finding fresh articles from Art, we can actively start the death watch again.
His continued good fortune has frustrated the Deathlister in me, but I can just laugh at it now and wish him the best. The joke was on me, but at least I'm not alone in that.

Knuckleballer Joe Niekro passed away a day after suffering a brain aneurysm. His 221 wins currently is 72nd all time and with his brother, who was as old as dirt when he finished his career, combined for 539 wins. He's not Hall of Fame material, but notable nonetheless.

Oh, don't forget about gunning down an 66 year old nun outside a children's hospital. That's not a savage abomination by any stretch of the imagination.

I'm disappointed by Felt's lack of progress. A year ago he looked like he could drop every day. Perhaps he and Harold Pinter have the same doctor?

Iain, obviously, you are interested in the dark arts of terminal health research, which is fine, but you're clogging up the topics with inane predictions and assorted crap such as prewritten obituaries. When predictions are made, I've gathered that people try to remain conservative with their predictions and back it up with something concrete or simply post an article with someone's health update without any prediction on a timeframe for that particular person's demise. Example, it's fine to post a link to an article on Gerald Ford getting a pacemaker, but it doesn't mean that it should be followed with something like "Gerald Ford needs a pacemaker, but I believe that the surgery will kill him in, oh, the next few hours along with all other living former US presidents and all famous people named Ford (first or last). Watch the news for my predictions or my voodoo power will cause your rectum to prolapse. All hail my stupidity and the chocolate covered smurfs." Damn.
The moderators have had reasons a plenty to take action against your continued board pollution. Once in a while, a nugget of deathlist joy comes from your posts, but unfortunately, it's far outweighed by poo posts.

I'm with Phantom on this one - obits need to be ready to go to press or whatever when someone finally does pass on, so they are written in advance with the occasional tweak now and then to keep it fresh. I'm sure Foot has an obit ready to go, as does King Tupou IV, Maggie Thatcher and a host of other notables for when they shuffle off, but it doesn't mean they're going to kick their respective buckets before their next meal.

Saw Takei on the William Shatner roast on Comedy Central last night. Takei and Nicholls were in attendance and looked quite healthy. The comedians had no qualms about ripping on Sulu being gay, and obviously, Takei didn't have a problem with it either. I think he's more at risk of dying of an age related illness rather than HIV/AIDS related illness.

State funeral means a day off for Federal employees!!! I could use an extra day off right about now.

To be fair to Iain though, I've noticed that I get a lot more calls concerning recently deceased elderly account holders in the summer months than any other time. I've had about 10 in three days this week, normally I don't get that many in a three month period so perhaps there is somethin in it.10 account holders in 3 days? Wow.
- "don't close my account just yet..." Heat can introduce an increased risk for the elderly, I learned that while working with the elderly. My grandfather, 76, last year stubbornly ran errands outdoors in 100 degree heat and didn't think of the need to drink water here and there while doing so. He spent a day in the hospital because of dehydration following that and got a prescription lecture from myself (general smartass on one of the few people he'll listen to) and my aunt (nurse). What bugs me was the assumption of causation that high heat outside absolutely will cause death while not factoring in the potential that Footie may be in a climate controlled residence, being pampered and not affected by the heat outside. Now if there was evidence that Foot was going to be left out in the heat, tied to a flagpole and covered in electric blankets...well then, he might die. I think I'm just irritated with the wishful 'imminent death' announcements and jumped on this particular one.
Then again, I may have just felt like being nasty on that particular day last week.

Do any of our stateside cousins have any up to date information on the man. He must still be at Martha's Vinyard, has Carly Simon sung for him yet?I did a little reading on Art the other day. Carly hasn't sung to him yet, although he has spoken with her. Art is currently at his vacation home on Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts and submitting his columns. He's still planning his funeral as if it was a sweet 16 party.

I knew those posts sounded strangely familiar. I had that feeling in my stomach...you know, like the one you get right before you want to vomit, that's what it was.
I recall Iain stating that Michael Foot was going to die sometime last month because there was a heat wave in the London area. I have a lot of elderly family members within 30 miles of Baltimore (around 20 old folks), and the temperature has been hovering around 100 degrees Farenheit for the last few days with the heat index reaching 115F yesterday in some parts. By Iain's reasoning - if it's really hot, and someone's really old, their death is imminent - I should have a lot of funerals to attend.
According to the US Census Bureau's 2000 Census, the population for the state of Maryland was 5,296,486, with people over the age of 85 accounting for 66,902 of that crowd (http://factfinder.census.gov/servlet/QTTab...=DEC_2000_SF1_U. By Iain's reasoning, all of them should be dead when fact is there's been only 1 heat related death in the state and that was a person trying to save money on their gas and electric bill by keeping the air conditioner off.
