  1. Now that this is it's own thread, all my back to back posts make me look really obsessed. ;)

Still, he's on my Weatherman DP and my brand spanking new Rotten DP, so I'm poised to score twice for this fellow.

Death has been kind to him though, I've been reading his column often and I must admit, he's a hoot and a holler (mildly anyways).

I was all set with a great death list for Weatherman's DP (before the deadline of course), and I read through all the existing lists to make sure my list didn't look too much like anyone else's...then I came upon your list CP and saw that your top 6 were in my top 6. :)

Nice picks, I couldn't have done better myself. ;)

  2. I do have to question her mental state, given that she's defending Wacko Jacko and his kiddie escapades.

She has been for years. I remember in the Jacko Oprah interview there was a filmed insert with Liz claiming: "Michael Jackson is the sanest person I know." :banghead:

I guess the people she knows (outside Jacko) are a real hoot at parties and psych hospitals.

  3. Do you think he might be going home "to die", like so many ill celebs do?

I gave the notion some thought...just didn't want to say it out loud, but since you've come out on your own and mentioned the possibility that Suharto may be going home to die, I'll second the idea.

  4. Even though she looks well, she is in denial. 2 or 3 years to live. 5 at maximum.

Of course we would all appreciate her death sooner.

Now I'll drink to that call.

I do have to question her mental state, given that she's defending Wacko Jacko and his kiddie escapades.

  5. Suharto leaves hospital.

Article makes it sound like he still may have this and that to worry about yet... not a total loss for this year just yet...

Right there with ya, not a total loss for this year. It sounds like his discharge is more of a personal convenience than medical staff wanting to discharge him.

I could swear he was quoted as saying "I'm not dead" and "I don't want to go on the cart."

  6.

We can only hope that he is admitted to a British hospital next time.

I kinda like this article...on Monday at 8am, Suharto was touted as having been stable since Saturday...don't know if that was Saturday morning or late night, so he'd been stable for about a day and a half, and IF he remains stable (big IF for someone as messed up as Suharto) he'll go home...maybe later this week. It's 2 days later...I wonder if the old bag o' bones is still stable. I guess we're just going to have to wait until the end of the week.

  7.

Another bloody F*****g disappointment. I'm rather bitter.

I'm right there with you, but I don't think anyone who chose Suharto this year should give up hope just yet. Just because he's improved over a 24 hour period under medical care means that the improvement will continue once he's removed from all medical equipment. Multiple strokes messing with his brain, lowered blood oxygen levels, further screwing his brain and body up and lung, and kidney problems on top of the occasional bleeding intestinal track. This guy's prime for the Grim Reaper's picking. Patience, bro...he's gonna' go.

  8. Ouch Martypoirtfuncity that really was mean. I nevder get hangovers I stay continually tanked.

He played collegiate football in Michigan I think or was it Miami?

Had an old patient at the psych hospital tell me that the only way to beat a hangover is to stay drunk...she had a heart attack and died two hours after saying that.

Gerry played his (American) football at U. Michigan.

  9. Aziz takes the stand in defense of Saddam

(didn't ask him to do the Hokey Pokey though)

or is it the Hokey Cokey?

Depends on location...until 2 minutes ago (with help from a google search), I'd never heard of Hokey Cokey. Apparently, here in the States, it's Hokey Pokey and on your side of the pond, it's Hokey Cokey.

There's my new thing learned for the day...I can go home now and veg out.

  10. Not on the transplant list. I've bene following Art for a couple months (aside from occasionally having read his columns over the years). According to the interview I watched, he says that he's lived a good life and has accepted that he's at the end of the road. To see Art in his interview in April, you wouldn't guess that his condition is terminal - the man is in high spirits, joking like a man without a care in the world but with the slowed speech of a man who's had a stroke or two. He knows he should've have been dead by the time he gave last month's interview and doesn't know what's keeping him around (laughing as he said it). One thing is for sure, he's not going to make it to 2007.

Great guy and when he passes away, he will be missed.

  11. Billy Graham plans to be part of July Festival.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's a viewing in July although there have been no new health developments. Nothing against the guy, I have to respect his more recent position on matters (although I'm 100% atheist).

  12. Evel Knievel update.

Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, recovering from a stroke...hoping he can hold on for another six and a half months.

Sounds promising, but I'm not too familiar with the condition... seeing as how my new Rotten DP is coming up, what's the likelihood of him lasting another year would you say?

    anytime FF.

Knievel has, I think, the same pulmonary condition that Jerry Lewis has, but from the sounds of things, the Evel one isn't doing nearly as well as Lewis. About a year ago, Knievel had been given 3-5 years by his doctor, but the article I linked sounds like he has much less time than the 2-4 years remaining. Given that Evel has trouble so much as getting out of bed some days, is tethered to an oxygen tank and over the past few years, it's been increasingly difficult for him to travel to his own annual celebration (indicating marked decline), I'd say Knievel has a good shot at making us all proud in 2007. I wouldn't bet my life on it though.

  13. Well, let's be frank: modern politics have rarely been more controversial than those of the eighties. The treesome Thatcher - Pinochet - Reagan will always be good for a hearty debate or two. (Hmm... never thought I'd ever use the word 'threesome' in the same sentence as 'Thatcher'...)

Thanks for the visual...I'm going to vomit now.

  14. She's had Parkinson's since 1995 at the latest (according to wikipedia), but that's all I know and in my opinion, having Parkinson's on its own isn't good enough to warrant a death watch just yet.

  15. http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2-2006190560,00.html

Why doesn't this surprise me...and I'd never even heard of Babyshambles or Doherty before joining this site.

I'm just comparing what little I know of Doherty to Lane Staley from Alice In Chains and unless Pete overdoses, he still has some years to go. Pete doesn't look emaciated, his face doesn't look like death warmed over and he seems to still have his teeth, whereas in Staley's last public performance, he sat near motionless, wore sunglasses and anyone watching him TRY to sing could tell his teeth were gone.

Like with anything else, though...I could be wrong.

  16. Iain,

you need to pay attention to one of the words in the first paragraph before you jump to too many conclusions.

I'll put the word in bold to help you

Nelson Mandela made what he suggested might be his final public appearance

    Iain,

does 'might be his last public appearance' mean 'one foot in the grave and the other on a wet banana peel'? He's frail and there has been mention that Nelly Man has unspecified health problems, but he's not a deathlist gimme just yet.
