Umm, I believe I had Torme as well, though that still leaves me behind Deadsox on age difference.
-
That's the one. Bathory started out as a black metal band but went on to pioneer viking metal.
-
Also, I should emphasise that the other band's name is only part of the song title, not necessarily the whole song title.
-
Very close, Venom is indeed the first band I was thinking of, but Poison were never black metal to my knowledge.
-
You may be right, I think this'd be up Deathers' street. I'll give a rather massive clue then, both of the subgenres generated the most success in Norway, a country neither of these bands are from.
-
I wouldn't consider Hawkwind metal myself, and I don't recall Motorhead ever playing space rock/metal, so it's not thaf. The acts I'm thinking of are both indisputably metal.
-
Alright then, here's one for the metalheads. This track by a pioneering act of a particular subgenre of metal contains within the title, the name of another act who, at first adopted the aforementioned subgenre, and then pioneered another subgenre of metal.

All the Tired Horses from Bob Dylan's critically panned Self Portrait album?

That's me in as well, best of luck to you too, though I must confess my amount of research and resulting team is less than worthy of an opponent like you. I am not feeling confident.

Doug Sandom, early drummer with The Who, has died at the age of 89. https://www.thewho.com/doug-sandom-1930-2019/

Umm, this feels like deja vu all over again.
-
Possibly, apparently he was fired before they played Minneapolis on that tour for wrecking a motel room.

An uncommon opinion, but The Top (the album Anderson played on) might be my favourite album by The Cure, so I'm saddened by this news. As I am about the news of Mark Hollis' death, those last three Talk Talk records and his solo record are just incredible. Spirit Of Eden is one of my favourite albums of all time. RIP to both of them.
-
Yup, that's right.
-
This indie pop song from the past decade revealed the band to be fans of Maurice Sendak.
-
Lady Gaga - The Edge Of Glory, featuring the 'The Big Man' Clarence Clemons performing one of my favourite sax solos in 2010s chart music.
-
Today - Jefferson Airplane
-
You have indeed, well done.
-
A good guess but I'm afraid not. I should clarify that the band took the name directly from this song title, rather than just happening to share their name with the song title.
-
I'm afraid there's no room for Air here
-
Alright, a much easier one. This song by a band who had one of the most acclaimed albums of the 80s provided the name for a band who had one of the most acclaimed albums of the 90s.

Cannibal Corpse - Hammer Smashed Face

Oh go on then, I'll give this another shot.

Alright, here's the only team I could be arsed to enter this year, and half-arsed at that. I'd be content with a finish in the top 100. Still Life 1. Fernando Ricksen (joker) 2. Lee Kerslake 3. Sacheen Littlefeather 4. Leah Bracknell 5. Bill Heine 6. Steffan Lewis 7. Genesis P-Orridge 8. Barry Du Bois 9. Andrew Fairlie 10. Andrew Mcgahan 11. Noel Conway 12. Marieke Vervoort 13. Bill Turnbull 14. Kathleen Blanco 15. Peter Lorimer 16. Katherine Jackson 17. Clive James 18. George Alagiah 19. Gerard Basset 20. John Cocksy Cocks
