Who will win the Democratic Nomination for President in 2020?
gcreptile replied to Joey Russ's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Warren's spoiling factor is smaller than one might believe. She does better with women than men. Bernie does better with men. There's been a bit of animosity between the camps, so not many Warren people would go over. And she'll not be much of a factor anyway. Her share of the vote will generally drop below 10%. I guess her intent is to collect a triple-digit number of delegates through suburban women, the lgbt vote and liberal-minded policy nerds. Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Washington State, Oregon... She might just remain because she's two terms younger than her rivals (dementia vs. heart issues) and a term younger than Trump. Also, Sanders was once willing to consider her for VP - she might think of herself as a unity candidate at a contested convention. -

I am somewhat encouraged because it seems they managed to get Bidens medication right. He's become far less doddery with every debate and speech. But you knew that with all the 70+ candidates, the White House would be occupied by a party - not just a geriatric man. Biden will be the friendly face and the administration will be made up by his defeated rivals. I wonder if Bernie wants to be a part of it. It might be best for all if he is, but I think he won't. He's just not a coalition builder. In early stages, I wanted and predicted Warren to win - but while she did great in between, she got all the big decisions wrong. She failed to give a detailed plan for Medicare For All which killed her "policy wonk" image. She got wrong that this only works together with a complete overhaul of the whole system which she wasn't willing to do (And Sanders had the easier job because he never had to quantify his revolution). For about three days, I wanted Bloomberg to win, but ah, some things look good on paper but then reality sets in... He still has the money and organizational skills, but none of Biden's persona. I hope they find a way to combine their strengths. Isn't it strange how Biden (apparently) beat those big organizations, Bloomberg and Warren with their field offices and Sanders with his activists? Maybe organization is overrated. Trump knows this, too. -
Iran and Italy now roughly on par on cases and deaths, now that Iran has had its number of cases increase by 50% in a single day. I guess they couldn't hide it anymore with half the government sick. Another country with a too low number of cases: the USA. 6 deaths and only a hundred cases? That means either extremely bad health care, bad testing or a suppression of truth. We are not at the third option yet, but lots of articles are speaking now of a "testing gap".

Yes, she's supposedly endorsing Biden at a rally later tonight. Buttigieg is still coy on this though. They are trying to minimize Sanders' win tomorrow - because after that, the race becomes more favorable for Biden. And Bloomberg might collapse just as quickly as he rose. -

For those who like to see numbers change: https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/ I have to say I am becoming a little suspicious of the numbers in China and Iran, the slowing down of the spread in the former and the numbers of deaths in the latter. If we compare those numbers to Italy and South Korea, two countries with an extreme transparency, the former numbers look a little off. China's population is about 27 times that of South Korea. The number of cases in China is about 25 times of that in South Korea. I bet the real number is a little higher, maybe by at least about 1.500. Especially considering that China has had a "head start". And Italy might soon surpass the number of Iran's fatalities. It already has double the number of infections of Iran.

Let's do another update after last week's flurry of hits... New hits are: Hosni Mubarak, Pearl Carr, Diana Serra Cary, Sonny Franzese and Katherine Johnson. All of them picked here and there... My pick Pete Felton is likely not going to get a QO, unless his chemo pal Reice Reilly aka "Patient Zero" delivers an indirect QO (he's still alive and posted a Pete Felton picture just last week). Ironically, the most popular name of all the relevant ones for this update, Henry Gray, is also missing a QO. One would have suspected that NYT obit at least... I hope I didn't miss anything - if so, inform me. The new scoreboard looks like this: Rank Team Points 1 Death Impends 381 2 gcreptile 350 3 RadGuy 342 4 Banana 341 5 Cpt. That's going to be quite the undertaking, respect! I wonder if Bob the Builder is still alive.

Aah, good find. They didn't even update the crowdfunding page. DDP pick for me, but most likely another LotL-er.
