  1. Having been catching up on some of the Game of Thrones, Peter Vaughan at 91 has to be considered.

(I know he is an actor, and acting, but.......).......... His voice sounds really really creaky, and after Sam Kelly, there is not many Porridge boys left.

He has to survive another season though.

Or you know they could just write him out offscreen if anything happens like most shows would.

I once made the mistake of looking at the "A game of ice and fire"-wiki because I wanted to know a bit of the Game of Thrones backstory without reading the books. I accidentally spoiled myself though and so I know that they ...probably... can't do that, because he has something to do. It could be that they leave that plotline out of the TV show, but from what I've read, it's not likely. That's all I can say without spoiling it for others as well.

  3. Dune Entertainment? Wow that's a weird name, I'm sure for anyone who has seen the film Dune, the word entertainment is the last thing they would ever say after it in a word-association exercise.....

I'm not going to lie... I really like that movie. It made me read all the books. I'm fully aware of its faults, but there is magic in there (probably all due to the book).

  4. I guess one could make a list of people on the list who are definitely going to survive this year (that is, if they still die, it's not for the reason they were put on the list). For example, Michael Schumacher might still choke on a pretzel, but he will not die as a consequence of his accident. People like Michael Douglas last year, either he dies now, or much later.

Anyway, such a list would look like this:

    Wilko Johnson (apparently beat cancer)

    Valerie Harper (apparently beat cancer)

Vera Lynn (enjoying her comeback more than a 97 year old woman should)

George Bush Sr. (his health scare late last year didn't kill him)

    Charles Aznavour (still uber-active)

Possibly Clive James who has been on an apparently neverending farewell tour

You mean in late 2012. ;)

Also I'd like to point out the mild insanity of saying a 97 year old woman will definitely survive the year....

Well, I assume that Vera Lynn is on the list solely because of her age. However, since she's recording a comeback album right now, I'd say that it's extremely unlikely that she'll die because of the frailty usually associated with old age. She could still get a cold which leads to pneunomia and death, but not because of, let's say, the generally poor health condition that comes with old age.

Edit: I couldn't find out if the recording process is already over or not.

  6. There's no recent death or news item to create this thread, but there are a couple of really old, really rich people worth watching:

Warren Buffett, 83, 4th richest person alive, has been in the news for choosing his successor at Berkshire Hathaway.
Charles and David Koch, 78 and 74, 6th richest people alive, CEOs of Koch Industries, have massively funded conservative politicians in favor of fossil fuels.
Bernie Ecclestone, 83, under corruption charges and threatened as boss of Formula 1 racing.
George Soros, 83, 26th richest person alive, massive supporter of The Democratic Party, doesn't look too healthy but there are no bad news so far.
Ingvar Kamprad, 88, Founder of IKEA, very secretive. DEAD
Sheldon Adelson, 80, Las Vegas casino magnate, another guy who spends millions of dollars on politicians to ensure that society will go on in a way he thinks is best even after his death
Karl Albrecht, 94, 23rd richest person alive, Germany's richest guy and co-founder of ALDI, his brother died last year. When will it be his turn? DEAD
Liliane Bettencourt, 91, 11th richest person alive and richest french person, owner of L'Oreal, was involved in a corruption scandal and legal trouble with her daughter. DEAD

Also worth watching: The Walton Family, owners of Wal-Mart and maybe even Bill Gates who is still only 58, but looks much older, in my opinion.

Jennifer Tilly update on sam simon , its the last question asked so scroll to the bottom to avoid the whole poker/gambling talk.

Apparently he was only given 3 to 6 months to live , 2 years max with chemo and that was a year and a half ago.

So there might still be half a year left...i.e. almost until 2015.
