    Manuel Ruiz de Lopera was the president of Real Betis (Sevilla) for 10 years from 1996-2006. In 1997 he managed the then most expensive transfer in history for Brazilian player Denilson. A divisive figure, he once had a stadium named after him, and then his name removed again. He also participated in the traditional Spanish sport of confusing football business with public interest.     Looks like I'm now at 14 hits with George Alagiah, Barry Bennell and Shane MacGowan. You know who didn't obit? Nick Hitchon, of the BBC series 7Up. What a farce. He's eligible for replacement now 

    I am going to replace him with polish composer Jan AP Kaczmarek.

    I'm conflicted hosting such a time-sensitive pool like the Cup but also giving notable deadpooling news that could affect the competition.

    But I decided to post it, because I accidentally found it while looking for my ABC pool prospects (and also, I geniunely like to post the news, like I often do).

    Sven-Olof Sallström finally received a qualifying obit. He was a sitting member of the Swedish parliament for the Sweden Democrats since 2010. I guess, only because he was an incumbent did the obit appear in a qualifying form on the parliament's own web page. Incumbent politicians dying are always a big deal, though I can't really tell that he was all THAT important in the grand scheme of things. But he scores.

     

    Also dead is American Astronaut Thomas "Tom" Stafford. As a member of the Apollo program he flew to the moon but didn't land on it. Later on, he was one of the three Americans who docked with three Soviet astronauts - in space. The Apollo-Soyuz mission was seen as an important step in defusing the Cold War. It also was the last hurrah of the Apollo modules before the age of the Space Shuttle.

     

    These two deaths greatly reduce the number of dice rolls I would have to do. Neither of the picks were unique as their bad health was publicly known. Tom Stafford also had a widely publicized hospitalisation late last year and, thus, is a standard name in this year's pools. Max_bossetti is the only one with a double hit in this update and msc is the only one who catches up in score, turning, for now, into this round's "best loser".
