  1. His press secretary, Klaus Bölling, is dead at 87:

The man himself is still in adequately good shape. Two weeks ago, he was talking about how the two major german parties are pretty much alike nowadays:

  2. One of the other two, Assad Uzzaman, 25, is still fighting in Syria, while the other one is in jail in the UK.

Fine DDP material, then. That Uzzaman, I mean. From the report you linked to I glean a horrible attrition rate.

    regards,

    Hein

Indeed! He'll probably get an obituary as well, if nr.4 gets one here as well...

  3. Calogero Gambino, Deutsche Bank lawyer and involved in diverse manipulations of interest rates and currencies which are currently going through the news, has commited suicide in New York.

It's the second suicide of high-ranking Deutsche Bank employees this year. In January, bank executive William Broeksmit also committed suicide, also possibly related to the investigations.

  4. I'm guessing Putin would probably consider him a traitor for dissolving the empire all those years ago, and therefore he won't get one. Would you honor your dad if his greatest legacy was giving away the family allotment and you had to traipse over there with a rusty sabre you found in the loft and threaten Jill and Bill to give it back or else?

As far as I know, that's the common view in Russia.

  5. Germany's most popular graffiti sprayer, OZ, is dead at 64. He apparently died in an accident doing what he loved most:

    http://www.spiegel.de/kultur/gesellschaft/oz-in-hamburg-graffiti-sprayer-ist-tot-a-993876.html (link in german)

He gained national notoriety when he was accused of vandalism for spraying his name tag more than 120.000 times at Hamburg walls, which triggered a discussion about the artistic merits of graffiti.
