Absolutely right, you can't compare Nena to Donna Summer!!! That's reason No.1 out of 99, so keep on going @TQR

Hooray, we got a winner from this KoS round: It's German Fräulin Wunder Nena! Congratulations! Who would have thought that??? I was surprised that she did that well in her own KoS (1984/85), but never guessed her to be the winner of the whole thing! Not bad! Maybe it's because the song is somehow overplayed in Germany, no Party without “99 Luftballons”. While Nena is called a one-hit-wonder internationally, she is still very successful in Germany as a solo artist (in her hey-days Nena was a whole band, up from the early 90s Nena is a solo artist). Her/Their discography shows 2 No.1 singles, further 13 Top 10-hits, 2 No. albums, further 8 top 10-albums. With 25 million records sold worldwide, she is one of the most successful musicians in the history of German pop music. And now she can also book winning the 80s UK No.1 hits KoS as a success! Well done! That has to be a highlight of her career! And here's our top 25 most popular UK No.1 hits of the 80's: 01. Nena – 99 red balloons 02. David Bowie – Ashes to Ashes (Youth in Asia) 03. Soft Cell – Tainted Love (ladyfiona) 04. Blondie – Atomic (RIP Wee Jum) 05. Kraftwerk – The Model / Computer Love (Book) 06. George Michael – Careless Whisper (CaptainChorizo) 07. Pet Shop Boys – It´s a sin (Imelda) 08. Madonna – Into the groove (Drewsky1211) 09. Men at Work – Down Under (Drewsky1211) 10. Madonna – Like a prayer (ladyfiona) 11. The Specials – Ghost Town (Book) 12. Madness – House of fun (Joey Russ) 13. a-ha – The sun always shines on TV (En Passant) 14. Communards & Sarah Jane Morris – Don´t leave me this way (Joey Russ) 15. Bee Gees – You win again (Drewsky1211) 16. Human League – Don´t you want me (Paul Bearer) 17. Eurythmics – There must be an angel (playing with my heart) (Youth in Asia) 18. Frankie goes to Hollywood – Two Tribes (Drewsky1211) 19. Belinda Carlisle – Heaven is a place on earth (En Passant) 20. Enya – Orinoco Flow (Toast) 21. The Bangles – Eternal Flame (Drewsky1211) 22. Bonnie Tyler – Total eclipse of the heart (Paul Bearer) 23. Pet Shop Boys – West End Girls (Youth in Asia) 24. The Jam – A town called Malice (wannamaker) 25. Kylie Minogue – I should be so lucky (msc) I would also like to crown Drewsky as a killer queen, congratulations! You killed most of the songs in this round Killer-Queens: 5 Drewsky1211 3 Youth in Asia 2 Book 2 En Passant 2 Joey Russ 2 ladyfiona 2 Paul Bearer 1 CaptainChorizo 1 Imelda 1 msc 1 RIP Wee Jum 1 Toast 1 wannamaker Thanks for playing again... and again... and again... the 90s are on its way!

Teresa Taylor still posts irregularly on Facebook, the last time 8 hours ago. I also assume that it is she herself who writes. https://www.facebook.com/teresattt

We have a clear result! Thanks for voting! Once the 80's are done, I'll start the 90's. Although there were a lot of #1 hits, especially in the late 90's, I'll stick to the familiar voting procedure (+4, -6, top 25). Maybe there will be a KoS in which the top 25 of the decades played compete against each other... The idea for the ESC voting was that all UK entries compete against each other. But of course all winning songs could also go to the KoS. Or if it's supposed to be a trashy KoS, all last places. Although... ESC is already trashy enough!

Well, I would now be interested in Nena winning (which I wasn't before...)

German drummer Hans-Joachim Behrendt has died at age 68. Maybe his name isn't well known, but the band he played in is: IDEAL, very successful, very influencing, very iconic. They paved the way for German pop music in the 1980s, including the so-called "Neue Deutsche Welle", which made acts like Nena, Falco and Trio internationally successful. https://www.stern.de/lifestyle/leute/hans-joachim-behrendt--der-ideal-schlagzeuger-ist-gestorben-33241052.html

Thank you for all your feedback and opinions! Now, of course, I asked explicitly about the 90s and some players spoke positively about it. However, there were also other great suggestions, such as the #2 hits, UK ESC songs, Xmas hits, 60s #1s. Personally, I think we can play all themes and ideas! We have enough time for that! The question now is when which KoS should be played: The 80's KoS will last a while; we can't make a 60s, 90s or No.2 hits KoS all the way to the ESC. But well, it could also overlap for a short time, then you would have 2 KoS games running in parallel. With the 60s, 90s and the ESC songs, I would be ready to start the game. The implementation of the #2 and Xmas hits I would like to leave to someone else. Is anyone there? I also found the idea of Bibliogryphon and the songs, which are submitted anonymously by the players, but for which you are not allowed to vote, very interesting. The best thing would probably be a voting where each player can cast a single vote, which KoS should start after the 80s: #2 songs 60s 90s anonymous ESC Xmas I'll try to start that over the weekend! And until then... keep killing and saving!
-
Ok, feel free to create a KoS. I'm only here for the #1-songs.
-
So there is any interest in continuing the KoS with the UK #1-songs of the 90s?
