  1. BBC News reporting Jona Lomu is returning to competitive rugby aged 34, with a third division French side. Is this a good idea in general, or simply a good idea for deadpoolers?

Does anyone out there know what state his dodgy kidneys are in these days?

    Arizona?

  2. Young was truly awesome last night and was joined by Paul McCartney for the encore, Macca eventually bowing down to Neil in an 'I'm not worthy' gesture.......TRUE!

Given the other three also turning in a competent Glasto performance I wonder.......

Had someone walked into a bookies in 1989, slapped down £100 and said I bet that quartet will all be gigging a few days after Michael Jackson dies.....gimmee some odds, assuming the bookie had been able to comply.....how much would that bet be worth now?

I dunno MPFC, I saw some of it on telly and I wasn't sure that they were all alive. Neil Young seemed to have had trouble putting his shirt on so wore only half of it. One of the others - don't know which one - was lurking cadaverously in the shadows most of the time. And was the music as good as the original recordings? It didn't sound so to me. What kind of roses did you use to tint your specs?

  3. Being single when fat, ugly munts of folk seem to be getting along blissfully.

But if you don't get out of the house and meet people, you don't have as much of a chance of finding happiness.

Now I'm going to be in Aberdeen later on on Wednesday and I'd be delighted to show you

where you could have a whale of a time and meet some like-minded young people.

Cracking post Nap and cracking clips. Landlord of the year. :skill2:

  4. So what was this little exchange about last night?

Is TF bearing some kind of a grudge? A bit out of character, that. Can we be enlightened?

Also can I say welcome back Star Crossed. Your acerbic posts and general pissedoffedness with life, the universe and everyone except Patrick Moore have been much missed. Good to know you're still alive and getting drunk. There's been a bit of post whoring around these parts in your absence. You weren't ever married to someone called Lard Bazaar by any chance?

  5. There are rumours on the www that Jeff Goldblum has fallen off a cliff and died while filming in New Zealand...

It couldn't be possible, 3 in a day...was there ever 2(REAL CELEB'S) in a day prior to today? Hey, are the Aussie's in today? 6/25 or are they a day ahead/ behind?

To be fair, Jeff Goldblum rather lags behind Jackson and Fawcett.

Now if Harrison Ford was to croak it...then we'd have meltdown!

I actually think Goldblum has achieved somewhat more as Fawcett.

Fawcett was mainly famous for her role in Charlies Angels.

While Goldblum played one of the main parts in a lot of the biggest cinema-hits of the 90's (Jurassic Park, Independence Day, The Fly).

Maybe not as famous as Farrah he sure had a more succesfull filmcarreer.

He has Vaagheid. He's still with us. He could go on to win an oscar in a remake of the remake of The Fly, however unlikely.

I was indeed talking of his current absent success in films

Sorry, I was being a prat as ever. I wouldn't normally try to correct your English for fear that you might try to test my Dutch which sadly wasn't good enough to read that post about the boss of ABN Amro. I'm just getting carried away in all the posting excitement but not as much as TMIB who was positively dancing around the threads yesterday.

  7. What an odd phenomenon that some people should post that well known people have died on the back of other famous deaths. Jeff Goldblum's name was the third most popular search on Google last night. I noticed at the Murray match yesterday someone shouted out "Come on, Nadal," and "Come on, Henman." Goldblum fans, I suppose.

I wonder if there are circumstances when web-posted lies that go viral could have a serious outcome. I was chatting to a former German soldier once who was heading west at the end of the second world war when someone ran out of the woods shouting. "The Russians are here." One bloke put a gun to his head and shot himself.

There was the famous episode when Orson Welles did a lifelike broadcast of War of the Worlds. It caused panic but nobody died.

I guess whoever started the Goldblum rumour is the kind of individual who likes to kick off a Mexican wave. You could write a book on virals. I think I might.

  8. Walter Cronkite's family say he is not expected to recover.

In order to dispel false rumors, Walter Cronkite's family want it known that, sadly, he is very ill and is not expected to recuperate; he is resting at home surrounded by family, friends and a wonderful medical team. We thank everyone for their prayers and good wishes

    Nobody cares.

    Michael Jackson just died. :ghost:

Yes, we care about Cronkite - he's on the list, the others aren't. This could be hit number four in a thin year so far.

  9. Local vet gets trampled to death by a herd of cows while wlaking her dog...

    All Creatures Maim and Kill

More on death cows. I had a close shave with some in the spring when they were after the dog and these were bullocks, not mothers protecting calves. Just got through a gate as they were closing in. There was a distinct taste in my mouth. Some might call it fear but for me it was......gravy.

I love the taste of gravy in the morning, it tastes like........pies!

  10. Not just pessimistic Honez. What you were highlighting were the kind of deeply cynical, energy sapping views that are dragging down societies all over the world in a corrosive spiral that feeds off itself. But to highlight this invites even more cynicism because cynicism rules. It's what makes me so deeply cynical about everything. Death? Bring it on.
