  1. So that's 10 teams altogether.

Perhaps this will entice Bellender to reboot the website...provided the domain is still available.

I'd say it was OK here if he was prepared to administer his totally bewildering scoring system that I never did understand. Besides, I don't want to upset him, but I never liked the wallpaper. You can't say that in someone's website. But I always wiped my feet before entering and never said a bad word to Bellender (even though he was a bit slow with the drinks and always put too much gin in my glass).

  2. Writing's been on the wall for a while but Kodak is officially bankrupt:

    http://www.abc.net.a...-report/3759196

    What a negative article!

It's a shame they need to print that. Development in technology is away from chemical photography. Of course, digital cameras are much more easy to use and cheaper as well, yet the story is not as black-and-white as that: the old methods still give superior results. Professionals are fixated to use it.

Unfortunately that's not enough for Eastman to enlarge profits enough to survive. Oh well, there are always the pictures.

    regards,

    Hein

Isn't it odd that companies can grow but they never seem capable of shrinking? As you say there will continue to be a specialist demand for film and prints so why couldn't a smaller niche-focused Kodak handle that?

  3. A field as broad as this one surely deserves its own thread. Just as its natural bedfellow, Fascinating Creatures - Squids, allows discussion of some similar species (i.e the octopus), so this thread should open its arms to anyone knitting for gerbils, mice, rats or even pigmy shrew.

I think it should also follow fascinating items of hamster wheel news like this snippet forecasting hamster-powered ipods, thanks to special hamster jackets (a future knitting pattern?).

Thread inspired by guest post here.

  4. Hi

for my 2p worth I find this place site has three qualities to it I find reassuring. Firstly in general there is a refreshing delight in the lives of those it reports, it is unusual that someone will not find something positive to say about someone who’s life has ended, unless said person are total scumbag, when it will generally be stated clearly! Secondly there is a healthy disrespect for the transient and shallow nature of modern "celebrity". Thirdly there is an equal delight in true achievement beyond the shallow nature of modern reporting. I don't find it so much a site obsessed with death as a place where life is enjoyed and celebrated (boy do I hate that term, anyone got a better one?). Now I will be off for a brief "no one expects the Spanish inquisition moment” as I have just re read my own wittering.

As a final comment I started visiting here while my father was coming to the end of his life, as he suffered the ravages of dementia. Personally I found this place very helpful in dealing with his death and my attitude to it.

    Best regards

    Syd

Very well said Syd, now go get yourself an avatar. The Fred West cut-out doesn't do you justice.

  5.

Very articulate point of view etc etc etc....

Wait a minute. Did you mention an "I love knitting for my hamsters" forum?

Please tell me more. You're so right about the dwindling lack of interest and then there's the boring posts about people dying who most of us never heard of or want to hear of. Tell me about it.

I came here years ago Googling something about George Best and people gave me stick and I gave them some stick back and then someone was really nice to me and I felt the lurv and, yes, you're right there are some real screwballs here and since I'm as mad as a hatter I feel right at home among them, or at least I did until I heard about the hamster knitting forum.

I had a hamster - three in fact, but they all died and, I'm ashamed to confess, I never knitted them so much as a pair of underpants. But I would have done had I been able to find a forum of genial hamsterwear enthusiasts. Please, please tell me where I can find it and take me away from this miserable place. I need help. My son told me I was a sicko and a weirdo at Christmas, the family regard me as an embarrassment; here they seem to tolerate me, for now at least. In fact it's a remarkably tolerant place and tolerance is a virtue is it not in this cynical world?

You're so right about everything. But you can't just come in here promising hamster outfitting heaven and then just wander off discarding us like an empty chocky wrapper. We need your help o knowing one. Give us a sign. Well a click through to the hamster knitting forum would do me, personally, but others may want something a little more profound. Not since the George Melly forum provided a little fleeting relief has anyone promised any kind of deliverance from this cesspit of degeneracy friendly little community.

  6. If this one passes the DL's fame test, then I'm a banana.

Nah, gonna raise an objection on that one: I remember Randi being on British TV all the time as a nipper back in the 80s, I'm sure he used to do Aspel and Wogan and shit. Plus his endless dedication to trolling Uri Geller, combined with his One Million Dollar Paranormal Challenge, means he's a legit celebrity. Not a "BREAKING NEWS CANCEL EASTENDERS" when he dies death, but he'll get a BBC obituary.

I didn't watch much telly during the 80s. The only person I remember accusing Geller of being a glorified magician was Ali Bongo. I see Randi has a big enough Wikipedia spread but that's hardly a fame test. I'd put him with Ruby Muhammad and Fergie Frederiksen as "not worthies" in what should be an unimpeachable fame test. Anyway it's all academic since the committee does as it likes as always. I'm still a banana. Your Casandra Jardine DDP pick is better known IMHO.

  7. http://www.dailymail...n.html?ITO=1490

Had finger and thumb cut off hmmm wonder how that happened ??

Also i suggested saif for the deathlist 2012 on the ideas thread and its on the deathlist, so i don't know if it was my suggestion or maybe someone else suggested it before me ?

Perhaps the list of the dead could use fractions this year if Saif continues to be torn off a strip or taken down a peg, so to speak.

  8. Sigh. Well, I took it upon myself to delete two most unpleasant posts made here in the last couple of days. Guests and members are more than welcome to share their views about this site, however the deleted posts were just a guest's graphic evocation of sexual acts with deceased people. If it makes someone happy to anonymously post stuff like that on Christmas Day, that's great, but I'm sure there are more specialised sites on the internet to deposit their vaucous, rather disturbing, drivel than DeathList.net.

 Could we just give the necrophilia discussion a rest please?

    Go well.

Disturbed to find this site is attracting sickos.

  9. His death will come as a shattering blow to the nation. He has been a deeply loved and respected old man
    Bollocks.

Not all of the post is bollocks. It's just possible that somebody did indeed deeply love and respect HRH at one time.

    regards,

    Hein

Quite right Hein. If you put a full stop after "come" it makes perfect sense.
