BBC video: The worst penalty misses ever. http://www.bbc.co.uk...otball/25715317 So nice and classy of them to put wacky "comedic" background music over two of the most painful and/or significant misses in football history - Baggio in 1994 and Waddle's howler in 1990......... also I'm not even sure you can count them as "worst" efforts if you take into account how much pressure the poor fuckers were under. Also they didn't even include this one which is the funniest one ever.

My opinion on the Mae Young thing is..... I thought all the stuff was funny at the time. Many people did. I think a 77 year old woman has the right to decide how she wants to spend her "retirement" (or non-retirement) and if she wants to get power-bombed through a fake table by a big guy probably at least twice her weight and one third of her age, and give birth to a "hand"........... and bare her breasts live on pay-per-view television at one of the WWF's "big four" events, the Royal Rumble, that's her choice and I don't think she was "humiliated" at all because she knew it was all for laughs. If you found the hand thing hard to watch, well, that was the point. It was shock/gross-out humour. A bit near the knuckle, definitely but it's not like they did that every week. That's all.

I don't like the whole "beside vigil" from the family either. I could write a book that would occupy as big a shelf-space as your copy of "The Complete Works of Shakespeare" about all the things my parents did wrong but one of the few things you can say for them is that I'm fairly sure if anything like this had ever happened to my father, my mother never would have had us sitting at our his bedside gawping at him lying there like a vegetable, with horrible head wounds, praying for him to wake up. She would just say "I don't think you should see him like this". Y'know, in order to, er, not horrify us/scar us. Surely that's common sense.

Just seems to be echoing what I wondered aloud the other day. Surely if he was gonna recover we would have heard of him making at least some significant progress by now. The silence is deafening.

Yes. "Could be less animiated by the end of the year" Sounds like something medical actually, so there's every chance he could.
-
I thought the Sam Simon one was rather funny. Typo notwithstanding.

Site has been updated. Drop Forty is up, for anyone else who was interested in seeing it.

FIVE young guys, you say? What's your address? Somewhere in Brighton I think.

If the matches are anything like those in 2010, I hope he dies during one of them...... just to relieve the tedium!

There's a guy across the street who has the same hair, a similar face, and exactly that same middle-age beardy look (that half the male GPs in the country look like). Me and my dad laugh cos we call him "Shipman". "Shipman's fixing up that old Morris Minor in his garage again". That's about as exciting as the banter gets between me and my dad, btw.

I remember Kenny Ireland from House of Cards (1990 of course, not the recent Kevin Spacey version). His performance as "Ben Landless", clearly supposed to be a Rupert Murdoch-type, somehow stayed fairly solid despite his American accent being a little slippy/dodgy at times, and it being very obvious that he was British and not a yank at all. I think he knew the accent wasn't quite right but didn't let it get to him/put him off. Anyway even if he'd done so badly that it was a reverse version of Dick van Dyke it still couldn't have possibly derailed any scene/production that was being anchored by Ian Fucking Richardson (who I nominate as first person who should be revived from the dead when they finally come up with the technology to do that).

He looks great for his age.

Always thought he looked in shit shape.

Wow, Mae Young still alive days later, despite being taken off life support and falsely reported as dead. Tough old bird..... but hey, we knew that. Or maybe this is somehow being wrongly reported and she's actually recovering.

I think you were looking for the Jeremy Kyle show thread.

So....this year I beat the DL committee to the 1st hit. Ha. Last year my first hit was the same as theirs - Michael Winner.
-
Actually, the first reports of his deterioration came out on the 1st of Jan.
-
So....... did he top himself or what? "No suspicious circumstances" seems to have worked itself into the modern journalistic language as a euphemism for that. Because apparently they think people can't handle the word suicide or something..... Not particularly bothered whether he actually did, TBH. I just like complaining about journalists, that's all.
-
Haha. Don't blame me! I suggested him to one of the committee members but obviously they weren't interested. Clearly a lot of people thought somehow just because he didn't die in the first couple of years that somehow meant he would never die... lol Also, who the fuck is "we", mysterious stranger/guest type person?

Personally I find the squint-tastic choice of font much more offensive.

Zsa Zsa is number one by some considerable distance. I looked/checked personally.

Ariel Sharon is my first ever DDP hit. And only on 11th January too. Well, if he'd waited two days there would have been a 2 point bonus for the 13th of the month, but oh well. Great stuff, literally a last minute pick. Was still deciding who to pick with less than 10 minutes left to go and sent the email off 4 minutes before deadline.
-
I can't believe it took me this long to figure out what was keeping him going

Wonder if his boner's gone down yet
