Sad news, he was great. Mind you, to say he'd been very ill for years and with a dire early prognosis, he had a good innings. RIP.

Ooh, I've met Frankie Banali - when he was playing with W.A.S.P. on 'The Headless Children' tour. He seemed a good guy. Mind you, so did Chris Holmes... Sure I've got a picture of him - I'll try and dig it out. Looks skinny and jaundiced on that picture above - touch and go whether he'll see 2020 I'd say.

Foreign Personalities, From Stage, Screen, Politics And Life
Vinegar Tits replied to Davey Jones' Locker's topic in DeathList Forum
The French news sites obviously have more information - basically she felt tired and a bit 'off', a bit 'not right'. If it is a Transitory Ischemic Attack then she should be all right and fully recover - they serve as a warning sign more than anything else. Despite her age, Deneuve continues to work non-stop and perhaps it's an indicator that she needs to slow down a little. She's always struck me as tough as old boots so this has come as a bit of a shock - hopefully she'll be up and gardening before the week's out. -

Catherine Deneuve hospitalised. Serious apparently -
I only need Liza for my 'gay icons I've seen live' collection.

80 today!

Prison ages you.
-
Thirty-odd years since Myra Desmond copped it from the evil Ruth Ballinger (one of the greatest and most shocking Prisoner moments ever), it looks like Anne Phelan has died.
-
Deborah Orr, who I mentioned in the 'possibilities for 2020' thread a few weeks ago, has died. Very sad news but not really a surprise, especially given her last tweets.
-
I wish! I'm sure the weather would be better for starters. She doesn't live in the Bay Area, hasn't done for a long time. Paul Kantner stayed around there until the end though.

In terms of lingerers, no-one will ever beat Zsa Zsa. Bits were literally falling off her before she died!

Most famously was second unit director of the 'Battle Of Britain' film action scenes. Ooh, I'd forgotten she was my main team joker!

Sad though inevitable news, though she well to survive as long as she did. She was one of the very few actors I never met on Emmerdale, mainly because most of her filming was done on location at the Harewood set, but she was by all accounts a lovely person and I never heard anyone say a bad word about her. Indeed, she was a favourite of quite a lot of the staff as despite being, certainly for a time, probably the most famous and best-known character in the soap, she never let it go to her head and there were no airs and graces with other actors, staff or fans, with whom she was particularly generous with her time. I'm not a fan of the hippy-dippy new age stuff but if it gave her hope and positivity after such a grim prognosis then I'm glad it helped her live out her remaining time with contemplative happiness, gratitude of life and peace of mind. RIP

Please don't post such things to those of us who worship the ground the actual Grace Slick walks on.

Guitar in the Muffs, bass in the Pandoras.
-
Oh god, that's really sad news. Loved the Pandoras and the Muffs and Kim was a really funny and great person. Could talk anyone off the planet (which is partly why she was kicked out of the Pixies) but she was so nice. Used to love hear her tales of why certain people 'left' certain bands (hi Melanie Vammen!), what Paula Pierce was really like and her recollections of the hair metal years when the Pandoras went hard rock. RIP. Heaven will be a noisier place with you, and that's just you and your guitar.

Anna Quayle was brilliant in pretty much everything she appeared in. She was fab in Grange Hill. I did try to do a Smashing Time theme team a few years ago but sadly there weren't enough people left And now there's one less - farewell Charlotte Brillig, owner of swinging London boutique 'Too Much' .

Bit of a shocker.

If he *does* live in Charing, do we have anyone here who works at William Harvey?
-
I don't think so. With the silly faces she's pulling, at least she looks alive and capable of having a bit of fun. Compare this with the dead, blank-eyed look during her real troubled time and there's no comparison. Plus going from blonde to brunette does tend to age people a little - saying that, she very much looks the same age as people I went to school with and she's 10 years younger...
-
Sad news, though she did well to hang on as long as she did. I adored Rhoda. Of course, she would go and die the year we didn't have her on our list... Nevertheless, RIP.

Play School - Play Away - Childrens TV

As great as Sheila Steafel was, and Josephine Tewson is, no-one beats June Whitfield in the female Straight Man role. -

She appeared in the Daleks – Invasion Earth: 2150 A.D. film, though I suppose it depends if you regard it as canon or not. Anyway, very sad news. A marvellous comedy actress and always a highlight (not difficult admittedly) on The Good Old Days. Her books are a good read too. -
Ooh, I didn't know you now lived near Ashford, nor did I know Ginger Baker (possibly) lives round there too. If I see him I'll try to run the miserable old git down (nb: this won't happen until at least 1 January 2020 as he's not on my DDP list).

Writer (currently with The Independent I think) Deborah Orr's breast cancer has returned after ten years and has spread to her bones, plus is going for a brain scan at the beginning of September. Says "It can be treated but not cured", describes herself on Twitter as "critically ill" and has very little energy at the moment. Treatment for it not started yet as she's about to move to Brighton. Ex-husband Will Self is being a complete shit as usual, though I can't remember the last time she said a good word about him.
