Het Zesde Metaal keyboardist Tom Pinterns dead at 49. Sad news, they're a really good band (know of them thanks to a friend who's a fan and also vaguely know their official photographer. He worked with all kinds of Belgium luminaries, including Axelle Red and late Gorki front man Luc De Vos.

Her version of 'Chiquitita' is gorgeous too, dare I say *whispers* better than the original? https://youtu.be/iE3meFEZEyI (argh, can't remember how to inbed video using my phone) -

Well, that's my comedy "you say potato, I say potato famine" French & Saunders St Patrick's Day gif ruined with both Dolores and now Sinead dead. Probably should retire it out of respect, but here it is one last time. -

Another firmly in the 'Mandinka' camp. Terribly sad news, though possibly not a surprise as I never thought she'd make old bones. I guess there'll be all kinds of speculation but any news on cause of death yet? -
Aww, sad news. An icon. I always hoped her and Marianne Faithfull would do a show together. RIP. (And yes, I have inevitably seen her live - Muzik'elles festival in Meaux, 2009.)

Lauren Harries has seizure, put into induced coma. Doesn't sound great, but as all the news comes from her nutso mother who knows?

Just read the news about Jean-Louis Murat. Obviously I mainly know him via the Mylène Farmer duo 'Regrets' and co-writing 'Un Singe En Hiver' and 'Karma Hirls' for Indochine, but liked what I heard of his other music. -
RIP Dr Evadne Hinge. Off to join Dame Hilda in the corner of Heaven that will always be Stackton Tressel. Sad news. Loved Hinge & Bracket as a kid and it's a Big regret of mine that I never got round to seeing them when thry regularly played Leeds City Varieties. It's not been a good few months for much-loved drag characters.

Maria Charles, probably best known as Maureen Lipman's mother in 'Agony', has apparently died. Posted from a usually very reliable Facebook group. She ought to get an obit as she was the go-to Jewish mother until Maureen Lipman and Lesley Josrph got older, plus had a very distinguished stage career too. (And she's a unique pick for me).

Sad news. Always liked him as an actor and by all accounts he was a lovely chap. Other than Michael York and Rita Tushingham, there aren't many people from 'Smashing Time' left at all now.

Spike from The Quireboys has posted on Facebook that Quireboy-in-crime Guy Bailey has died.
-
David Hepworth's deleted his tweet too. I had him down as a v reliable source rather than it being just Twitter tittle tattle, which I why I posted it here.
-
Can't see anything news-wise but David Hepworth has said on Twitter that Chris Farlowe has died. EDIT after checking this year's DDP team: Oh FFS, I had him in my team the other year too as well...

Sad news. YMO and his work with others was fantastic.

How on earth can Sam Neill be 75?!!?
-
She's a fraud and her recipes are, for the most part, inedible slop.

Patricia Routledge doesn't look like someone mourning the loss of a partner of many years so perhaps those rumours about her and Betty Boothroyd were false?
-
Seeing as Cheltenham is next week (she was a big racing fan) I suspect not. Sad news. I was a fan from before - she did the horoscopes in one of the Sunday tabloids - but she certainly livened up The National Lottery programme and it was never the same without her. RIP.
-
Very sad news. A truly great Yorkshirewoman and fellow Dewsbury College alumni. And yes, as is custom to these sort of threads, I did work with her. I helped film the opening of the Boothroyd Building which housed the new spanking new Dewsbury College library in 1993(?) when I was a student there. Everyone, including the library staff, were a little bit nervous and apprehensive as she was such a formidable figure, but she was fab - no airs and graces, kept ducking out during the boring bits for a fag, had quite the range in ribald jokes, and over all was a really good laugh. One Of Us. Lovely woman. RIP.

First 2023 victim of the Curse Of HMHB, plus immediately goes to the top of the 'outlining the Curse' list, knocking Lionel Blair off the top spot with an impressive 36 years 164 days.

Forty years ago today - Karen Carpenter Also means it's 32 years today that my beloved childhood cat Patch died too, aged 15. RIP to both. -
Has Mickey Thomas still got stomach canccer? He's being interviewed ahead of the Wrexham-Sheffield Utd match and I know he's pushing 70 but he looks ill - bald, very thin, and has that crepe skin look people going through cancer treatment often have.

Terrible news. It's going to be a bad few years for our idols who are getting old. *whispers* I actually prefer Richard Lloyd's solos on 'Marquee Moon' but obviously Verlaine was a colossus.
-
Ah, okay. Just checking seeing as I was a bit confused due to not saying she was dead, but then I noticed Vialli isn't crossed off the team/people listing either (though mentioned on front page). Thanks for clarifying.

I haven't got time to search this thread but Lucile Randon doesn't seem to have been included in the DDP list. I know both my teams picked her but is showing other old French person Andre Soeur instead. Very odd.
