Excuse me, not just any old singer but the goddess that is CHER!!!

Seeing as I'm house sitting for my lovely Dutch friend at the moment, have we mentioned the death of Father Abraham yet? (Yes yes, post your Clive Dunn emojis if someone has...). Crikey, he must only have been 42/43 when The Smurf Song came out. My condolences go out to The Smurfs, they must be devastated x

Norway 1980 entrant Mattis Hætta dead aged 63. He was the gnome-like Sami singer who wanders on stage all "yo yo yo'dy yo'dy yo yo" half-way through the song.

Flemish, not Dutch. Sad news. Baby Baby is a Eurovision classic. Those purple jumpsuits!

As a massive Duranie of over 40 years I'm deeply saddened by Andy's news. Prostate cancer is a weird one though, it may well get you in the end but people can often live for years without it being an issue. Hopefully this is just a minor, temporary blip for Andy and nothing more. Simon's quote is a bit tactless, however. I hope it wasn't meant to be - it sounds like him and the rest of the band didn't know about Andy's illness, or at least that it was Stage 4 and that it was just something said in shock and surprise.

Flautist and ever-popular mainstay of children's television in the 70s and 80s, Atarah Ben-Tovim, has sadly died according to Twiiter

I suspect the Powers-That-Be will be watching Putin/Russia *very* closely. He's not been invited to the funeral but that's no excuse for launching a nuclear attack in a fit of pique.
-
As I haven't had an invite to the funeral (yet!) I'm hopefully going to The Queue / lying-in-state either tomorrow or Friday. I always said I would for The Queen if possible, and the MOT today wasn't hideous so can afford to.

Has Gorby ever been seen on rollerskates or entered the Eurovision Song Contest though?
-
Prince, err King Charles dropping down dead unexpectedly in the next couple of weeks perhaps? Otherwise, no. Putin would be the only biggie if anyone. Not The Pope, not Madonna, not even Attenborough or McCartney. And as for Trump... pffft.

Don't think we really need to debate this for September, or 2022...

There was a bit of commotion on the BBC at around 3pm when there was audible pinging of phones and whispering (and a tummy rumble but I doubt that was related). Something happened then, not necessarily her death but perhaps news confirming she was on her way out. Anyway, after numbness at the news, I've just burst into tears. Thank you Your Majesty and God Save The King.

I don't really have anything to add that hasn't already been said, but I'm impressed at how the DL servers are holding up so far

Just heard the news on Aussie radio. A 12-hour operation! That's quite big, isn't it? Interesting that he only found out about the cancer "quite recently" - that suggests he wasn't feeling particularly ill or anything beforehand, which maybe narrows down what kind of cancer it is.

A legend of Israeli pop for decades. Sad news.

Actually yes. They worked together a lot and, on a personal note as my sister was there, he joined the last leg of Livvy's Great Wall Of China walk for her charity (along with Didi Conn, who I'm sure I heard on the radio the other day in tears ) . My sister didn't meet ONJ as she was obviously super busy doing press, though I think did get a nod and a smile, but she did meet both Cliff and Didi Conn. My sister was also in the ONJ Wellness Centre hospital in Melbourne not so long ago (hernia op thankfully rather than cancer). Totally fan-girl squee'd out about it, took loads of photos of the entrance, walls with Livvy pics, doors with ONJ codes and kept her entrance ticket as a souvenir, not to mention asking every single person she came into contact with who worked there if they'd met Livvy - a few had; "absolutely lovely" was the overall opinion. Oh, and the food was good too! I don't think I can remember a thread where so many have expeessed such genuine sadness over a death *sniffle* I guess it's been a big death for so many of us who have grown up with her. She'll be missed.
-
Never heard of her but whoa! the state of her legs. More cellulite and stretch marks than mine
-
Not unsurprising news sadly but I'm devastated. I loved Livvy, she was so awesome. Quite possibly in terms of actual voice my favourite singer. And my sister in Melbourne won't even have woken up to the news yet RIP to one of the true greats.

Vinegar Tits replied to Davey Jones' Locker's topic in DeathList Forum
Dani, French singer and actress has died aged 77. Mainly famous here in the UK for appearing in Truffaut's Antoine Doinel films Day For Night and Love On The Run. She also was supposed to be France's Eurovision entry in 1974, until Georges Pompidou rather selfishly went and died that week. -

He's had a few health scares in the past, and has on occasion looked decidedly frail, but he seems to have got a second wind. Not sure about another ten years but he's looking well.

Has he still got his VW campervan? -
Retiring from presenting.

Virginia Wade Watch - she's just turned up in the Sue Barker tribute looking exactly as she has done for the last 30 years and most definitely not ill.

"Grave condition" Literally, probably. Other than that, seemingly no change on cardiopulmonary arrest which you can only be in for so long...
