maryportfuncity 10,630 Posted August 27, 2006 Another of me mad ideas like: Since there's loads of footy fans post here and since some of the others have no understanding of our passions why doesn't the DL - kind of - adopt a team so we can have some communal sharing and educate those who miss the joy of footy into the experience. It'd amount to little more than taking an interest in results and developments and sharing our massive insight via a thread but it might be fun. Obviously those teams we follow with a passion; Villa, Gretna, Carlisle, Orient etc, are out, but I think there's a few contenders that seem appropriate: MK Dons: Their very existence offends people - kinda like us really - they're friendless, prone to ranter attack, struggling to forge a way forward but - oddly - successful this season. Accrington Stanley: Against all odds they're back in the league where local indifference is starving them of funds and support and threatening their survival. Crawley Town: Docked ten points at the start of the season they've won three out of four games against a background where their financial problems still make them as healthy as those on our top fifty list. They need friends. If we're up for it we could use the Football thread as a home for our opinions.

honez 79 Posted August 27, 2006 I suggest Wrexham as the team of choice. Disliked by English clubs and South Wales clubs alike, docked 10 points and demoted because of it a few seasons ago. And they play in red.

maryportfuncity 10,630 Posted August 27, 2006 Aye, good point, Wrexham should be a contender an all, assuming more than two of us reckon it's a decent idea.
