Deathlist Dreaming
deadsox replied to harrymcnallysblueandwhitearmy's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
I've never found a unicorn either, or the Loch Ness Monster, or a Yeti. Do they exist? It was a light hearted post, intended to annoy Banshees, of course (sadly he hasn't bitten yet, but give it time). Yes, there are men that live up to adult responsibilities (somewhere). There are also men with absolutely no sense of humour. Which one are you, I wonder? Sorry Lardy, I have a very good sense of humor but it's an old and tired line of complaint so I overreacted. My humblest apologies. -

Lots of men live up to adult responsibilities. Just because you haven't found one doesn't mean they don't exist. -
Bad research by me. No chance she can be revived is there?

It seems that Steinbrenner had to step down because he was no longer competent to run the team, hence the elevation of his sons. I think there's a big difference between not being able to function due to Alzheimer type symptoms and imminent death, however. We don't have much to go on other than some rumors and his appearance at the All-Star game last summer. My guess is that he'll survive this year and will be a much better pick in 2010 or 2011.

To quote Rudyard Kipling, it's "Special Train for Atkins".

Congratulations on an impressive win, DDT. Also thanks to the Octopus for all his hard and dedicated work.

Watching Dick Clark last night was positively surreal. I don't really know if he's ready to die but he definitely needs subtitles so we can understand what the hell he's saying. Oh yes, and someone should fix his teeth too.

I don't know Miser. I thought he was a good candidate when he was trying to get out of jail but when he was released he suddenly got healthy. He even talked about running for office.

Happy New Year all you ghouls! Let's hope for another successful year of predictions.

Happy Birthday CarolAnn! -
One thing you have to learn about this game, BC, is that families and public relations flacks lie all the time. I've heard many celebrities declared "cancer free" only to die in a month or two. Paul Newman is a very recent example. He was only seeing the doctor for "hair loss and athlete's foot". I don't really blame them, it's really none of our business and a positive attitude can yield wondrous results on occasion, just don't take everything they say without a lot of skepticism. They don't care about our game.

Two names from work that I'll always cherish are Phat Phuc and Hye Suk Dickie. No joke, real names.

I beg to differ, BC. Swayze was diagnosed in January of this year so he hasn't made a year yet. Luciano Pavarotti, the first pancreatic cancer victim I looked up, was diagnosed in July 2006 and made it to September 2007, around 14 months. This Yank is going to pick Swayze.

I have reviewed my posts in this thread and wish to apologize. Godot, I had no right nor justification to question your honesty. I became angry at what I perceived to be a sniping post. My comments to you were nasty and mean spirited. My being annoyed does not excuse them. What started out as a sincere expression of thanks for my blessings (or good fortune if you prefer) became something else entirely. Godot, and the rest of my DL correspondents, please accept my apology.

I don't mean to quibble (with you anyway, Harry) but my point was that the name of the bird is "Canada Goose" not "Canadian Goose" as your submission clearly demonstrates. An open season on politicians would certainly be something to consider although cleaning them would be quite a chore. Yes, I made a mistake. It was a Canada goose and yes, Flanders, it was a big bird which made a good lunch for two plus cold for lunch the next day, then curried pickings for the whole family the day after. I had a pigeon as well and still have a brace of pheasant to go. Oh, and I saved a few feathers for fishing flies. I don't see why this should be hard to believe. We were shooting guns in England when the only real Americans were running around with bows and arrows - before you shot most of civilized them for which you were able to give thanks. And another thing, I come from a town in Yorkshire that makes Maryport look like the French Riviera and was reared on muck sandwiches with added Rickets. Snobs in our town were people with indoor toilets and we didn't have one. I'm not so little either. Not sure about effete. If you mean cultured, yeah that's true, I know where Belgium is. Congratulations on knowing where Belgium is. It seems like pretty rudimentary geography, but good for you. As a point of fact, the great majority of Native Americans who were killed due to the influence of colonization died of infectious diseases brought by the Europeans, like you English. The number that were shot pales by comparison. You could look it up Mr. Burns.

Well Ock, I for one appreciate your time and effort. The frustration of dealing with everyone must be grating but I did warn you that the whole "famous for being ill" question was a can of worms that would be hard to figure out and resolve to everyone's satisfaction. I'm happy you've gone with "over 18 and reported in the British press". It's nice and simple and won't require a gang of five to administer.
