Do men really angle for squid, surely that's like hunting ants with a pack of hounds? -

A giant squid being caught by Japanese fishermen using another squid as bait. Squid-on-squid action, what more could one ask for? -
Die, you nasty old bugger. Unique pick in the DDP for me.

Cricket Thread. Only Mad Dogs And Englishmen
Anubis the Jackal replied to The Four Horsemen's topic in DeathList Forum
Hurrah for the Cricket. Can't help feeling though, that it's a bit like the fat kid with the flat head winning the bean-bag race at sports day, after having come spectactularly last in all the proper races. -

Big Bad Bob has his thread here -
You know, it's funny when someone several years older than you is remembered as a kind of child, but this is one of those cases. What a f**ked up life, poor girl.

Indeed 12trees, Rostropovich is one of the few Classical Maestros I could name, as an ignoramous. Interesting news, DDT - I've seen Rostropovich conduct / perform many times - and no doubt about meeting the fame credentials at all. 'Slava', as he is known, is possibly the most respected classical musician around. Also worth watching out for his wife, the soprano Galina Vishnevskaya, I'd suggest. -
Should Notapotato Be Stripped Of His Moderatorship?
Anubis the Jackal replied to Star Crossed's topic in DeathList Forum
Mate, that's what we do. We aren't satirical genii, we aren't flash-herbert techie geeks, we don't bury anything under whoreshit, that's your (the members) job. We delete spam by the bucketload, we delete large amounts of pointless crap, we delete most of the pointless Pete Doherty nonsense but mostly we let things ride. Sorry if we're not upholding any imagined standards, but I didn't think we had any. -
Balls, I used to live next door to him and he was a lovely old fella. He was a bit tottery then (3 years ago) but he was still as sharp as a tack most of the time, so that's a real miss for me. his daughter Gemma is a lovely lady. and I still get a Christmas card from her. Sleep easy old chap....and make sure you turn the TV down a bit, some of us are trying to sleep!

Godawful and pointless advertisements, dressed as 'research,' dressed as news. For example, More so because I recently heard one of my old schoolmates on Radio 4 doing exactly this. At school he was obviously an incredibly gifted kid, straight A's at A-level, went to Cambridge and really should have gone on to find a cure for cancer, crack the secret of cold fusion or design the first UK rocket to Mars. But there he was, twatting away about how more people crash their car on a Wednesday afternoon in February, with the subtext that you should BUY A FORD!!!! or some such shite.

Well. that's that killed stone-dead then.

A colleague of mine once worked for a summer at one of Mr Matthews 'farms.' After what he told me, not only will I never eat Mr Matthews meat, I can never play hacky-sack again.

Ok, I'll have a bit of that action. If I pray daily to the god of your choosing for a specified length of time and Senator Johnson is struck by lighting I'll be willing to accept the concept of an omnipotent and omniscient god. If however he dodges the thunderbolts, you must agree to walk the streets wearing a sandwich board proclaiming the non-existence of god for a week. Deal?

I once went to look at a flat in North London with a view to buying it, and, fair play to an estate agent for once, he did actually bring up the fact that, yes, it was the flat that Nilsen lived and 'worked' in. As I said at the time, it probably had the cleanest drains in london. A bit pokey though.

I took a punt on Wilhelm 'Bob' Roessler in the DDP, the only member of the controversial British Free Corps (The 'British' unit in the SS) to have fought the Allies in World War II. The broadsheets like a Nazi, they do.
