  1. First team is in and ready (thanks Windsor). Meant to mention to any newbies, obviously, if you want to keep your team secret, PM me, they don't get shared until the Masterlist goes live after the closing date.

    *ahem*

Gimme a break, The sun was blazing when you entered and I was confused about whether it was a late 2014 entry.

It's still technically the first entry and as you're the forum pedant I would expect you to be as rigid with being correct in your own posting as you appear to be with others.

In all seriousness I wish I'd been that organised with the Hares Death Pool... got some fucking horrid catching up to do. I am hoping to have the update out tonight.

  3. There's no hard and fast rule about this, although I'm leaning towards different themes being different "teams" even though the same player is involved. However, teams with the same name but that switch from theme to normal and vice-versa has happened before. So if you decide to turn Sovereign-Reaper into a theme team, then that's fine with me...

Am I okay to PM you my teams this year?

  4. I would like to put the amount of swearing that goes on on this forum in Room 101. It is a particular hate of mine - and my biggest turn - off in a woman. It is disgusting, common and unnecessary and shows a lack of learning.

It's a total shitstain on this foresaken cunthole isn't it.

  5. This game is still alive, and will run on into next year. *Entries officially open, PM me them or post them here*

The current scores for this year will be released before the end of the month (probably next week).

If you are entering this competition you agree to the fact it is ran by an incompetent imbecile and it may take several months for points to be accredited but that it will always be accredited by the end of the game year. You also agree to abide by the post 1 rules with all instances of 2013 replaced wiith 2014 and all instances of 2014 replaced with 2015.

So basically everything contained in this thread chain with the years amended where appropriate:

    The Rules

    • All picks must be humans aged over 18 on January 1st 2014.
    • Death row prisoners only score if they die of other causes, those still on trial will still score points if executed,
    • Celebrities qualify if they achieve an obituary or article about their death in a local, national or even specialist newspaper. or website/magazine/paper. If in doubt cite your death note for approval.
    • Entries must be posted by 1600 on December 31st 2013, no exceptions except if a pick dies post-deadline, they may be replaced until 1200 on January 1st 2014 provided the replacement hasn't died between 0000-1200 on January 1st 2014.
    • Murdering your chosen "celebrities" is both against the rules and illegal.
    • Celebrities are disqualified if they are a celebrity because of their impending death.
    • All entries must be posted in this thread or PMed to me, they'll then be posted in this thread as one post.

    Just to clarify please:

Does this mean that Wikipedia IS allowed as a source?

Are you able to elaborate (for the purposes of clarification) what is meant by "Celebrities are disqualified if they are a celebrity because of their impending death" I assume that this is there to rule out "my last six months on this planet" bloggers and baby X who is dying of cancer, but what about folk who have been in a coma for years (such as the Jewish Tv Ariel repairman)

    Thanks

No Wikipedia doesn't count. It can be edited by anyone and has been used in the past to fake deaths so erm best not to include it. However there's a very high likelihood the verifying article used by wikipedia would count. Your Snooker Weeklys and This Month in Croquet type of magazines/sites count here, and almost anyone of reasonably notability will get an obit somewhere. Obviously your great granny doesn't qualify because she got put in the under the local newspaper's recently deceased lists that would be bonkers, it has to be in the main body of the site or paper. If your great granny happens to be the old person in Madeupshire and get's a arcticle (even just a few paragraphs in the main section) in the Madeupshire Times she'll qualify.

The second part of your query is a bit more difficult and I should have really thought it through more. I think it's best to stick to famous because of their impending death equalling disqualification, long term resistance in the face of probable death raises people's profile enough that they'd be consider "on the fringes of fame". However you need to balance their resistance to illness with whether it's obit-worthy.

Also to clear up another issue right to die campaigners will be accepted because they not famous because of their impending death but the campaigning they've done.

Hope this clears things up, if anyone wants to update their teams in light of this clarification or just want to update for the hell of it you can do so until entries closing at 1600 on the 31st.

    Good luck.

  6. So now that the mid terms are over do we skip straight to 2016 or shall we pause a while to watch the viscious scrap that is going to be the UK 2015 General Election?

very real potential that both leaders will be challenged directly after the election or even before. Green-Lab-SNP-Lib-UKIP coalitionis my bet on the government after the election.

  7. DeathRay, there is no way a respectable British newspaper would publish an obituary for a pornogrind artist, or whatever you call it.

So this is a POINTLESS thread.

    No offence...

so the mail might in the right circumstances, no?

  8. Talking sandwhiches: what is without a shadow of a doubt the ultimate sandwhich that you have to sink your teeth into while watching a match.

You probably don't care anymore but it's the bacon bonfire. Piece of White bread, two slices of bacon, a smothering of mustard and another piece of white bread. A fried egg then two jalapeno chiles and some tomatoes, followed by two slices of bacon, some bbq sauce and the final slice of bread

ir a cheese, ham and pickle sandwich will do.

  9. I think a much better exercise would be to have thread races.

Five themed threads are created and the first to reach the target wins. There would be rules that each entry is only allowed to contain one name and no member can make subsequent posts in the same thread.

If anyone is bored enough to try this I have suggested what five themes might look like

    1. 100 People who have had a UK number 1 hit single
    2. 100 Oscar winners
    3. 100 Nobel Prize Winners
    4. 100 Pre 20th Century British Writers
    5. 100 people who died before the age of 50

The same person could of course appear in more than one thread although I can't think of any Nobel prize winner who have had a No. 1 hit single.

    Enjoy

We could just run them simultaneously in this thread.
