The oldest person I know is my Nana's cousin she is 87 this year. The oldest person I ever knew was my Nannie, I wrote about her on another thread, she passed away 13 years ago last month at the age of 106. She lived independently until she was 101 and was forced into a care facility when her much younger second husband passed away. She was engaged at 103 but the fella died before the wedding could take place. She had all her marbles to the end and was the meanest lady I ever knew. Nana (96 - January 2015) and Nannie (106) are the only two with longevity so far. My mum was 43 and my father was 64 when they passed respectively. Probaby explains my facination with death.

Not really nearly, both referendums failed to get the required minimum 51%. Consistently 60% of Quebecois want to stay attached to Canada. I am a Westcoasters but I did put half of my children in French Immersion, so two of them are bilingual.

Joost popped in to make my vote. I'm altering a wedding dress for my BFF's daugther thus my presumably hardly noticed absense. I'll be back lurking before I know it.

Re-runs of Father Brown on BBC Canada. -
I always vote for Joost van der Westhuizen. I have no rhyme or reason, it is very....random.

Just finished an interesting and lengthy discussion about the migration habits of underpants...

To be able to play guitar like that, many dream and few accomplish. Be at peace Mr. King. One day I'll own a Gibson and I'll still be a mediocre player, but a gal can dream...

No one famous or infamous died on my actual birthday, but Dorothy Dandridge passed a year earlier.

Nothing new, her dad was saying the same thing from the pulpit at that holy crusade I was forced to go to over thirty years ago. The rapture doesn't seem to be in any kind of rush or perhaps the end times just take time?

I'm with you. As soon as the separation agreement was signed I changed back to my birth name at no cost to me. My two banks gave me a hard time and wanted me to do a legal name change that is not required. After the fight with the first bank I didn't have it in me for the second so I closed the account.

This happened with my great-grandmother (Nannie) when she was 101. My Nana got the call that Nannie passed. Nana, my brother and I made the drive to her care home. We got to Nannie's room and there she was, not only alive, fully dressed and sipping a suppliment drink. She was quite thrilled that we came for a visit. What happened was that while she was resting her heart rate go so slow that the careworker looking after her couldn't find a pulse. She called Nana before getting the death verified by an RN. The care facility was eventually shut down for various reasons and Nannie lived on for another five years at a much better care facility. She outlived two husbands and four children and even a few grand-children while living in three centuries (1896-2002).

Me too! ...and female, working on a divorce, mother to four awesome children. In good lighting I can pass for about 34. I lurked on this site for about a decade, signed up in 2013 and only started posting recently. In good lighting? You must look ravishing in the dark then. And in welders goggles you could pass for Brigitte Bardot. Who? I wish! (well...the young sexy Bardot that is )

Well I got the date right. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-32562117 Huzzah. Now if they just call it Philippa... Looks like I'm better at predicting births rather than deaths lol. Partial congratulations to you!!! I'm so proud. I got the girl part correct. *Fingers Crossed* for the name Alice.

Is the apocolyps next when your 10 year old says...mum put the timer on for another 15 minutes of homework?

I'm out. Darn... I think the only ones left in the running are myself, Deathray and Magere Hein (with Toast perhaps, as having a floating date with Martin Crowe). Well, I'm top 4, I'll take that. I'll root for your guess then! I'm still thinking girl though.

Read Any Good Books Lately?
RandomCanadian replied to maryportfuncity's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
I'm just about finished reading Kelly Oxford's Everything is Perfect when you're a Liar. Very funny book maybe more so if you are a Canuck. -
Former Vancouver Archbishop Ray Roussin passes http://www.theprovince.com/life/Former+Vancouver+archbishop+Raymond+Roussin+dies+aged/11002315/story.html I met him in a receiving line once but didn't know him personally. He was famous/imfamous around here for resigning/getting fired because he talked openly about his depression.

There is probably not one Canadian woman (and maybe some men) in my age group that isn't gutted by news of Jonathan's death. I had such a crush on his Gilbert Blythe. It is just so sad. I think my daughter has the DVDs. Maybe PBS will air all three mini-series in Jonathan's memory.I damn near opened with 'sorry ladies...' As you are spot on. Growing up in Detroit we got to watch CBC right across the river... So I'm fully versed in Canadian programming and classics. PBS showing the trilogy would be cool, and I'd cuddle up (with a few beers this time lol ) and watch. I found the third offering an obtuse story with war and all that and Anne going to the Front, but I'm over it. Thanks to my ex wife I now fully enjoy costume dramas and at least the first two parts of AOGG. SC I agree, the third one was disappointing, but we did get the long anticipated Ann/Gilbert wedding. To sound completely ridiculous, Jonathan Crombie was just so dreamy in that role. I always thought Megan Follows was a lucky bitch. If there is a rebroadcast I'd watch with a nice bottle of Chambord and pretend that it was Mirrilla's raspberry cordiale.

Many years ago I worked with a woman named Darelle which I thought unusual for a female. She said that her brother's name is Darryl. I of course made a Newhart reference that was lost on her. Her parents were unoriginally cruel.

David Foster's wife and Gigi Hadid's mum. David is music producer/composer. Gigi is a model. Yolanda is on the real housewives of Beverly Hills. I think I may watch too much TMZ...
