For me Helmut Kohl. 16 years leader of Germany including reunification and co-founder of the united Europe incl. common EURO. I think this live performance is more significant compared to someone like Hefner who presented us "only" naked bunnys on the cover of the playboy.

Well, instead of Christie or Downie the committee could alternatively pick really famous people like Helmut Kohl or Chuck Berry, right? I had neither downie, nor christie or bracknell on my list, no matter how death-cert they are, if these people are not representative enough on a worldwide perspective and I never heard of them outside this page, why should I include them on the list? but of course everyone has the free choice to make their own decision, the committee too..... Wish all of you a happy and healthy Christmas

I think the suggestions are not so bad. but I also agree that these are probably not deathlisty enough, beside of Ecclestone oder Prince Henrik. Klaus von Donhany is in my opinion one of the best known and smartest politicians in Germany. He was Mayor of Hamburg and Minister of Education. But his reputation in the UK or USA is probably as high as that of a Gord Downie or Erroll Christie in Germany

-
If we really need a centenarian, in my view I.M. Pei would be a better pick. no idea why the committee refuse to consider him. although a few years ago, the committee with Oscar Niemeyer had also a 106-year-old comparable architect on the list.

I think on the last pic right side, Michael wants to kiss the granny on the mouth as well?
