One thing I think he gets off rather easily for these days is the boycott of the Moscow Olympics which ruined the careers of hundreds of athletes for the sake of an empty gesture which made no difference to Russia's actions in Afghanistan whatsoever. It's notable that nobody has seriously suggested doing the same for the 2022 Winter Olympics for the sake of the Uighurs/Hong Kong as they know it would have no effect on China.

I've always found it rather odd how some people prefer to focus on his attendance at a pre-war funeral when he was 16 rather than his years fighting fascism in WWII. It's as if they would rather think he was actually a secret Nazi for some reason.

Perhaps they mean the current Earl's wife? Haven't Princess Alexandra and the Duchess of Kent been in poor health?

I think there will be few if any children there. Presumably on Philip's side King Constantine and Queen Anne-Marie will attend? Perhaps Lady Pamela Hicks as well?

I don't he think he was quite as sharp in his last couple of years of F1, which is why I was surprised he lasted so long afterwards. His best years I think were with James Hunt.

Of all people I thought he/his family would be careful enough to avoid it. Perhaps the Barbados trip wasn't such a good idea after all.

He's in reasonably good condition compared to Rob Burrow despite being diagnosed several years before him.

Rob Burrow would have been a much better choice, being an actual sportsman and facing the adversity of MND, whereas Captain Tom will probably outlive him.
