Billie Jean King declined regarding his challenge as childish and pathetic. Margaret Court however did take up the challenge but lost the tennis match. This caused a disheartened and frustrated Billie Jean King to reevaluate and accept the match challenge . She won and a battle ensued with regards to fair and equal pay between male and female tennis players.
