Betty Miles, a writer whose books for children and young adults addressed real-life issues like sexism, racism and censorship after she had emerged from the 1950s to become a feminist, died on July 19 at her home in Shelburne, Vt. She was 90. SC

Not much of a source, but an English language version nonetheless. The Bobr Times will be happy to have been used as a journalistic source on this site, if only once. https://bobrtimes.com/died-soviet-hockey-player-olympic-champion/81085/

Not only the 'suitable lung' question, which is interesting for sure, but if he's had multiple transplants in the past, how would he have been a suitable top of the list candidate -- emergency or otherwise -- to receive said lung? Isn't there a list or summat....? If I'm COPD and this creep jumped in front of me, well......well fuck him. SC

Stunning.... Before I answer the question posed by Paul Bearer, [and L&H are hard to beat], I am astonished that my response wasn't so much as mentioned even in casual passing. Did their material not travel overseas well? Abbott & Costello

Doesnt seem outrageous, what’s a normal post-op stay after a lung transplant? I’d think a week at least.

Wow. Look at me, agreeing with and liking a Mad Hatter post. Sir Creep is all about second chances. Don't ruin it, MH. Quick 'honest to God' 1 vote matters story. My previous home town of 14000 people, voting for president of the school board (meaning probably 800 people voted lol). I was driving home from wherever and it was about 10 minutes to 8pm, and I passed some lawn sign that reminded me it was voting day. I ran over to the polling place, and voted about 7:56pm, the last vote cast in the matter. They counted the votes and lo and behold it was a TIE, and they determined the winner by coin flip (seriously)....and the guy I voted for won the flip. Had I not voted he would have lost by a single vote. Instead he was school board president.

I think we need to examine and discuss what is meant by 'natural' in the term 'unnatural', as every time it is brought up I oppose it's usage to the fullest extent. Is the idea that the death itself has to be 'natural' as in organ failure leading to a cessation of heart and brain function? So then only old age and a heart attack qualify (throw in a few other medical presentations). This interpretation I am at total odds with. Or is the idea that the death is not a 'natural' result of something occurring to the person. THIS interpretation is the one I champion. Art Bell overdosed on pain meds. If one takes too many prescription meds, to the level of ODing and potentially death, and death occurs, it is a completely NATURAL result of taking the pain meds to the extent ingested. It is in no way UNNATURAL. A pedestrian doesn't expect to die crossing the street, and if they do get struck and killed, that is a totally UNNATURAL result of perambulating a crosswalk. **descends soap box** SC

For starters, my interpretation is submitting a list on a day PRIOR TO the last day of the month negates the last day(s) of the month. We are practical folk -- you don't negate your entry by submitting the next entry on the month's final day....as when the hell else are you supposed to submit it? You were fine to submit your list without jeopardizing points. If this is an incorrect interpretation, speak now Admin....and while doing so, feel free to answer the 'when the hell else' question. SirC (Edit -- as for Wormfarmer, a mea culpa has been posted and I say give WF the points, clearly there was no foreknowledge).

10-year old Clark Kent Apuada, appropriately named Superman, won the 100-meter butterfly at the Far West International Championship in California on Sunday with the time of 1:09:30 — more than a full second faster than the record Michael Phelps set at the same championship in 1995. SC

I was on days off and received a call from a friend on the oil rig 'Sir Creep, you need to get out here and relieve Billy-Joe-JimBob*, he is having a stroke'. So I called my office and said if I was needed I'm ready to go. They reply why would you be needed? I said Billy Joe JimBob is having a stroke, don't you know? Two hours later my office calls and says go relieve Billy Joe JimBob. SC *name changed to protect the innocent.

Wait....she came back to life to die again? Didn't she recently leave us? Goodness, who the hell am I thinking of then?

But it's such a natural response. I can't help my knee-jerk reaction upon hearing of a loved one's ill health, I find myself standing on a chair with a rope. Don't you? In other news, and maybe I shouldn't announce this, Donald Trump is presently in ill health. SC

The Unknown Man and Sir Creep are really taking the shaft so far in the first half. Both below 20th position, yet have more hits than 10th place team. Life isn't fair. And death is even worse. Drol is also in a similar position, though up the leaderboard a bit. SC
