I've never heard of 80% of my picks. ok 60%

I love how Roey Juss immediately assumes Sir Creep hasn't done any research re: obit chances for people.

Japan was still part of the mainland when she was born.

Marty Allen, another one who was in hospice care. Who knew -- not search engines that's for sure. Don't these people publicize these things? They all have 'publicists' what is their job, to collect a paycheck? Fuckers. SC

Not a chance. SC

Yes I see that. Well good on them. Still surprised I can't trust Google LOL

From Dec 7, 2017: "I was heartbroken to read this weekend that my friend Bill Crider has entered hospice care." Damn...a pretty big miss for ALL of us in whatever DP he passes muster. I"m pretty pissed off at myself for the oversight. OTOH, 'entering hospice' or 'entered hospice' are certainly search terms I run through the matrix, and this didn't pop up. What gives? SC

Not to mention there is a lively discussion elsewhere about bands/people 'no longer touring' that started this past week, and had I been able to open DL website on my phone (strangely, it' the ONLY site I can't open in an area with a weak signal), I'd have put Tipton's announcement there. SC
-
Tipton should absolutely be mentioned here. Blakely OTOH hasn't a goddamned thing to do with this thread. It is for metal bands -- only -- in case the title didn't give it away. So what "Fleetwood Mac, Ted Nugent, Sammy Hagar, The Black Crowes and Robert Plant" have to do with the price of tea in China I do not know. SC

And 5 misses.

How should someone who is 117 look?

OK well I was THIIIIS close to starting a new thread, but it should be necessary. I want a place we can stick collective research we can all draw upon. You find a chart showing the % of people surviving a particular disease for a particular # of years undergoing a particular treatment, post it. Info I need to know. Sadly "Statistics' is all about DDP stats, not stats on people dying. And 'Do You Actually Research' doesn't seem interested in actual research. In fact, I think I AM going to start a thread cuz posting my research here doesn't seem accurate. I want to see if WE see trends that the medical community (and worse for us, the media) is missing. i think collectively we are smarter and more focused than they are when it comes to end-of-life anticipation. SC PS: Admin if I am truly missing a proper thread please direct me.

Things To Do While Waiting For Death

Watch the Winter Olympics. In particular the 2-person Mexican alpine ski team (Rodolfo Dickson and Sarah Schleper), who has these bad-ass outfits. WANT! -

Not a bovine attack, but not an Animal Antic. It's gotta go somewhere. A bull belonging to Health Minister C. Vijaya Baskar died during a jallikkattu held at Thirunallur village near Illupur in the district on Sunday. As many as 66 persons sustained injuries during the six-hour-long event, of whom 31 were referred to various government hospitals in Pudukottai and Tiruchi for advanced medical treatment. Soon after the Minister’s bull, named Komban, hurtled out of the Vaadi Vaasal [entrance to the arena], it rammed a tree, suffering severe injuries to the head. In the impact of the collision, the animal collapsed on the spot and died, much to the shock of spectators. “My family could not digest the death of the animal, which had been cared for as if it were a member of our family,” Baskar said. I don't want to be one of his family members then. SC

Bonnie Brown — who many believe was Kansas’ oldest newspaper columnist — was found dead Saturday morning in her apartment in a senior living complex. She had been suffering from a cold that turned into pneumonia. She was 11 days shy of turning 103. In her eight years of writing for the Protection Press, she had missed two deadlines — once last year, in March, when Protection was evacuated for massive wildfires sweeping southwest Kansas and again a few weeks ago when she caught a virus. David wouldn't Groh anymore after this day 10 years ago (68). He was the on air husband of Rhoda -- i.e. Valerie Harper -- and I am certain this is a sign!

Sylvia Plath ended her depression 55 years ago, at a mere 30 years old. Here is a lengthy and interesting article about the search for Plath obituaries. It begins: "This week, I went on a hunt for some obituaries of Sylvia Plath. To my surprise, I couldn't find any. At the time of her death by suicide—50 years ago, on February 11, 1963—she was a published novelist and an acclaimed poet; beyond that, she was also a statuesque, stylish American married to the celebrated English poet Ted Hughes. Surely there had to be some written public remembrance, on one side of the Atlantic or the other, of an author who'd done readings of her work at Harvard and for the BBC. But, no: I couldn't unearth a single piece of news about the death of Sylvia Plath."

I'd forgotten about Miller's death as pertains to THIS pool. Pisser.

Unlike Jose's family, the camera has no bias and no dog in the fight. I think we can look at the photos and get a fair assessment.

Aston Villa is 0-for-2 on obits for actual players in 2018, to concern whether the parent of a player will obit is far-fetched indeed. But you know how it goes, just when you think you've figured out obit chances....a fly ends up in the ointment. SC

Here's someone sliding down the slippery slope of fame. Jeremy Sylvers -- best known as the kid actor who played Tyler in "Child's Play 3" -- is now a 34-year-old problem child for his mother ... who's been busted for stealing her car. Law enforcement sources say Sylvers got into an argument with his mom at his L.A. home Friday because she wouldn't drive him somewhere in her car. We're told he got physical, knocked her down and took her keys ... then drove off in her 2002 Honda CRV. Sylvers' mom called the cops, and we're told they returned to his home Saturday to follow up and he was there ... so they arrested him. SC
