I can honestly say I've never heard Bluer Than Blue (didn't want to repost the goddamn video again). Thank goodness. SC

Really surprised there isn't an Our Gang/Little Rascals thread....wasn't that a 'thing' in the U.K. (if not you really missed out), but with only a few surviving, no reason to start one. Leonard Landy, best known for his work as one of the Little Rascals on "Our Gang,” died Wednesday. He was 84. Often recognized for his freckled face and big ears, Landy appeared in 21 “Our Gang” comedy shorts, debuting in “Feed ‘Em and Weep” in 1938 and culminating with “Fightin’ Fools” in 1941. SC

Very sad news today in Cajun country. Cajun music legend D.L. Menard, who was known as the "Cajun Hank Williams," died Wednesday night (July 26) after a long illness. He was 85. The jovial Menard, of Erath (LA), was a beloved figure in Cajun music and authored the anthem "The Back Door," which reportedly sold more than 500,000 copies. It was listed #72 by Rolling Stone in their top 100 country songs of all time. Sir Creep got to see him perform a couple times. SC

#37: This is sad cuz I was gonna take my daughter to Sea World in San Antonio in the next month to see this animal, among others The last killer whale born in captivity at SeaWorld died on Monday at a San Antonio park. Kyara, the orca born in April to her mom Takara, was being treated by veterinarians for an infection but her health declined over the weekend. While a post-mortem exam will determine the whale’s official cause of death, SeaWorld officials said she likely died of pneumonia. SC

" New label MCA brought in veteran writer/producer Eugene McDaniels for the group's third album, Float Into the Future, but it died an even quicker death." Since we're on the topic of quick deaths......

Dude you deserve a thousand likes for that one. Kids too young around here to understand. SC

If we can't accept a Chelmsford Diocese presser, we may as well shut this bitch down.

No need for redundancy around here.

I guess it depends on circumstances, but at what date do YOU personally start getting antsy about the idea that your sure bet (i.e. joker) may in fact let you down, despite all indications otherwise. I'll give Rayya Elias till Halloween, then with 1/6 of the year left, I'll be a nervous ninny. I can't win anything around here unless she drops dead. She is defying the Reaper and logic. Patience is a virtue, but why can't hurry the fuck up be a virtue? SC

GCReptile -- In case you DO crank up Shameless 3.0, here's an easy addition, and a Sky article to boot. Ben Lindon is about to undergo his 100th round of chemotherapy as part of a long fight with brain cancer. SC

Anne Dufourmentelle, a leading French philosopher and author who advocated risk-taking (one book entitled 'Praise of Risk') has drowned after attempting to save two children at a beach on the French Riviera. Dufourmantelle entered the water after the children got into difficulty in strong winds at Pampelonne beach, near St Tropez, on Friday. The two children were later rescued by lifeguards and were unharmed. (So a DOUBLE Irony!) SC

#36: Snooty, the longest living manatee in captivity, died (drowned) Sunday, a day after a huge party to celebrate his 69th birthday, according to the South Florida Museum. "Snooty was found in an underwater area only used to access plumbing for the exhibit life support system. Early indications are that an access panel door that is normally bolted shut had somehow been knocked loose and that Snooty was able to swim in," the museum said in a press release. "Snooty's habitat undergoes a daily visual inspection and there were no indications the previous day that there was anything amiss." SC

Kenneth Jay Lane, the designer and bon vivant who built a global business from glittering acts of unabashed deception, producing fake and junk jewelry — or, as he liked to say, tongue in cheek, “faque” and “junque” — has died at his home in Manhattan. He was 85. A rather interesting obit if one cares to read. And a fellow Detroiter. SC
