Raymond Kogovsek, Pueblo's only congressman during the past 40 years and a tireless supporter of Pueblo and Southern Colorado, died Sunday. He was 75. Kogovsek was elected to the Colorado House of Representatives in 1968 at the age of 27. He was elected to the Colorado Senate in 1970 and was elected Senate Majority Leader in 1973. He remained in that position until 1978, at which time he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. SC

A man working on a cell tower fell 228 feet to his death. Kris Edward Runyon was 39. A coworker said he turned away to work on something and when he turned back, he saw Runyon falling. Said Runyon: "Can you hear me now?" SC

Ken Stork, a retiree who took up acting late in life, died after suffering a heart attack onstage 10 minutes into his lead performance in “Art of Murder”. He was 66. Nine hours after he died, his second grandchild, a baby girl named Lydia, was born in the same hospital. (so I've posted the first DOUBLE irony, though it's more coincidence, and here come the Webster Dictionary/O.E.D. police in 5, 4, 3, 2....). SC

Magic Johnson, And Other Basketball Players
Sir Creep replied to Death Watch Beatle's topic in DeathList Forum
Toby Kimball, a humble giant on the basketball court, and one of the first players from UConn to forge a significant NBA career, has died. He was 74. He had been battling inflammatory lung disease. Toby Kimball played for UConn from 1962-65, averaging 18.4 points and 17.4 rebounds per game. In 1964-65, he led the nation with 20.6 rebounds per game, and the Huskies were 23-2 — losing two regular season games that Kimball missed. He had 34 rebounds in one game against New Hampshire. After UConn, Kimball, 6-foot-8 and 230 pounds, from Sudbury, Mass., was chosen by the Celtics in the third round of the 1965 NBA draft. He played a season in Italy, then played in the NBA for the Celtics, Rockets, Bucks, Kings, 76ers and Jazz in a career that lasted until 1975. He averaged 6.1 points and 6.8 rebounds during his NBA career. In his best season, he averaged 11.1 points and 11.7 rebounds for San Diego in 1967-68. SC -
'Penny', a 37-year old African elephant at the Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia, SC, had to be euthanized when she unexpectedly and suddenly became ill and collapsed. She was the star of the annual 'pumpkin smash' so that will be missed. SC

Popular Kannada TV actor Rekha Sindhu died in a car accident while travelling in Vellore district of Tamil Nadu on May 5. The incident occurred on the Chennai-Bangalore highway. Rekha Sindhu was on her way from Chennai to Bengaluru along with three other people. Another Kannada and Tamil actor Rekha Krishnappa was mistaken for Rekha Sindhu. Krishnappa put a video on her Facebook page to clarify the issue. Misidentifying bodies is commonplace when the vehicle comes to a sudden stop in THIS fashion. SC -

I hadn't kept up with your ant issues.....so it's an all-natural remedy we are after, mate? Kick that pile, let them come out, and dump a pot o' boiling water on them. Is bleach considered natural LOL? Best product I've seen (we have those red fire ants in Loozeeann) is the Bayer product, I just kick the nest and out they come all angry and shit and sprinkle some magic Bayer dust on them and watch the carnage. But that isn't natural. Would seem boiling water would gitterdun but I dunno. But know this: I am INCREDIBLY interested in the ongoing ant problem you have, RadGuy. SC -

The aging Bonanno capo who famously dodged prison after being brought to trial for the 1978 Lufthansa heist made famous in “Goodfellas,” slipped and fell in the jailhouse shower last week — and couldn’t get up. Vincent Asaro, 82, looked stiff and haggard during a brief appearance in Brooklyn federal court Monday for his new arson case, as defense attorney Elizabeth Macedonio told Judge Allyne Ross her client was hospitalized after the shower slip at the Manhattan Detention Complex. Macedonio added that her client was only discovered lying on the shower-room tile floor because she miraculously went to visit him that day. SC

Henry L. “Hank” Lacayo, a union leader with strong ties to political and business leaders across California and the nation, has died. The 85-year-old rose to prominence organizing aircraft workers for the United Auto Workers in the early 1950s. After leading the UAW’s western regional office, he moved to UAW national headquarters in Detroit in the 1970s where he was a member of the union’s executive team. After his retirement in 1986, he opened H.L. & Associates, a consulting firm that advised a number of clients including Verizon, Southern California Edison and SoCal Gas, on a variety of public policy issues. His Newbury Park home was a testament to his powerful influence, with walls lined with photos of him with presidents, CEOs and world leaders. SC

The UK’s longest-serving patient has died after spending 54 years in the same NHS hospital. James Morris, a war veteran, was initially admitted with a broken leg in 1962 at the age of 21. However, he suffered a cardiac arrest on the operating table and was left in a vegetative state, meaning he never went home. He passed away last month at the age of 75, and is thought to have spent the longest time in a single hospital across the entire NHS network. About time he quit living off the working class, the goddamn remora. SC (Edit: Knowing the top drawer UK medical industry, they probably still are working on a diagnosis)
