"Word reaches us that Dan Gurney, the 85-year-old motor racing legend, is not in the best of health at the moment." Posted in the official homepage of the McLaren Formula One team One gurney is about to meet another.

GAH What's his wife's name? What other info you have?

Don't have access to those records but I'll poke around a bit and see what I can find. His dying in SMITH County sure as shit isn't helping matters. HEY I just realized (after seeing a map) I have to drive through Smith County on the way home from this rig. I could get you a photo of the grave if we knew where he was buried. LOL. Need to search newspapers for obit. His date/place of birth is questionable at best, so that's a dead end. SC

Any actual evidence for this. None I could find

Just need to say that this is truly a stupid-ass thread. Epitome of unnecessary. Nary another thread dealing with first names. Thank goodness. Won't mention it again. SC

Preston Hubbard, a former bass player for the Fabulous Thunderbirds, has died, according to American Blues Scene magazine and numerous Facebook posts from his personal friends. He was 63. Hubbard joined the popular blues rock band in 1984 when he was asked by his friend and Thunderbirds member Jimmie Vaughan. He was a member of the band through their most successful period. He played on the hit songs “Tuff Enuff” and “Wrap it Up.” “Tuff Enuff” was the band’s biggest single to this day, reaching No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. Hubbard was with the band until 1994. Hubbard also played and/or recorded with Stevie Ray Vaughan, Bonnie Raitt, Carlos Santana and Big Joe Turner. SC

Don't crucify the messenger. Article pops up today and says he died Aug 22. But article dated April 2016 so maybe Aug 22 2015? Google/Wiki was/were not my friend/friends. Dennis Kasprowicz, aka Denny Kass, one of the New Fabulous Kangaroos, died August 22 at the age of 59. By day, he was an employee of the Ford Motor Company. LOL love that tidbit. He was from Detroit, who knew? SC Edit: Says he was 59 and born Aug 27 1956, so math tells me this just happened.

Stamford Tyres Corporation announced on Monday the passing of former chairman and senior adviser Chua Kim Yeow, 91, on Sunday. He served as chairman of the group from 1991 to 1994. Upon his retirement, he was re-appointed as independent director and non-executive chairman of the group in 2000. He retired from all posts in August 2012 but stayed on as senior adviser until August this year. SC https://kopitiambot.com/2016/08/22/stamford-tyres-former-chairman-dies-aged-91/

I had forgotten we lost Nick Ashford (of Ashford & Simpson) and Jerry Leiber (Leiber & Stoller) on the same day 5 years ago. Ashford attended my alma mater at one point (Eastern Michigan Univ), a fact almost no one that went there knew LOL. Keeping with the music theme: Bruce Gary, drummer for The Knack (10 years). I had no idea a member of The Knack besides Doug Feiger had died. Damn, half the band is gone and they weren't that old.

That's actually a pretty good analysis there. I would probably say that the king of Thailand, who's been in and out of the hospital could be a possibility. Stan Lee won't be next. I don't think he's ill in anyway shape or form. I wonder why he's even on my list. As for me, my vote still goes out to lord carrington, which strangely enough, was one of your seven. No, it's nonsense. It's well presented nonsense but it's nonsense nonetheless. Haters gonna hate.

As stated in The 6th Death of 2016: ___________________________________ "[T]he numerals 3-4-7-8-9 are taken, thus no one with that numeral is possible. 3: (Crowe) Gabor, MTM, Carter, Pirsig, Kissinger, Greaves 4: (Vigoda) LzSmith, Banks 7: (Reagan) Interestingly she's the only one out of fifty names! 8: (Boutras-Ghali) de Cuellar, Norden, Ali, Gascoigne 9: (Michelmore) de Havilland, Adulyadej, KDouglas, CJames, Noakes That leaves the following, but before we get there, The Reaper has made it CLEAR he is only taking folks 94 or older (unless gravely ill -- but we haven't any imo), so I'm eliminating anyone 93 or younger. 0: Prince Philip, Lord Carrington, Stan Lee (Bush, Randi, Domino, Hawking all too young) 1: Havelange, BGraham, Sallis (Gall and Dole too young) 2: None (Joost, Scales, MWalker, Forsyth all too young) 5: VLynn (Chong, Phillips, Piggott all too young) 6: Wouk, RAdams, Lamotta (Ellis, Castro, Tutu, Campbell, Chirac all too young) So there you have it, the list of 10 real possibilities, the rest are lagniappe. If you've chosen someone outside of the bold names, you are bloody wrong." ___________________________________ Ali was an outlier, period. Havelange was right on target and leaves us with: 0: Prince Philip, Lord Carrington, Stan Lee 5: VLynn 6: Wouk, RAdams, Lamotta That's it! 7 names. You chose someone else, you are wrong. Sir Creep will count out Jake Lamotta on Sept 17. SC

I hadn't voted for anyone in advance, but now voted for Havelange just to please you. :-) Just for the record, JH now stands at 20 votes (25.64%) vs BF with 7. Let's see how this will evolve. :-) You've now 8 for BF. It's the best I could do. SC

Harry Briggs Jr., whose parents originated the pivotal lawsuit (Brown vs. Board of Education) that struck down public school segregation in 1954, but whose name was relegated by fate to a forgotten legal footnote, died on Aug. 9 in the Bronx. He was 75. The cause was complications of cancer. SC

He got a number of high profile publication obits (Canadian) for being a regular on David Letterman's show; not exactly 'not famous'. I posted his obit elsewhere musta forgot here on DL. As I said, he was from Regina (Sask.), which rhymes with.... SC

As if creating boy bands wasn't crime enough. Sorry didn't see (or expect) this posted here, I kinda duplicated in Pop Stars thread. He wasn't in prison for life (not by judgment, but by reality I guess he was), which I presumed a prerequisite. If not, then perhaps a better name for the thread would be Death In Prison? SC

He Didn't Want It That Way. Music producer and manager Lou Pearlman died in prison on Friday from an undisclosed illness, PEOPLE has confirmed. He was 62. Known in his heyday as "Big Poppa," Pearlman was one of the successful music producers of the 1990s. Based in Orlando, Florida, he created several boybands, including the Backstreet Boys, NSYNC, LFO and O-Town. SC

I didn't see any listing for this guy (his name is hard to search as you might imagine). The first PM of Dominica, Patrick John, just had his leg amputated last month for diabetic related reasons, and the month prior to that was in hospital a second time inside of a year for heart ailments! He's 79. Apparently he was a footballer so maybe he's been mentioned there. SC http://dominicanewsonline.com/news/homepage/news/human-interest/doctors-amputate-leg-of-former-pm-patrick-john/

Insider would be his surname and The his middle name. Quick research shows surprisingly that Insider IS his surname, but that his real first name is Idliketoget.

I bet it is a bit. There are state governments and the federal government. Each state has it's own Senate and Representatives in it's state capital, voted by 'counties' and/or other ridiculous gerrymandered voting districts I reckon. This is apart from our FEDERAL government in Washington DC where each state sends 2 Senators to the Senate and each state sends a varying amount of Representatives to the House of Representatives based on population; thus our checks and balances. So Texas has a bazillion more Representatives than Vermont cuz of population, and throws it's weight around in the House, but in the Senate both states have 2 voices and are equal. Not sure how it all works in each state LOL So anyway, Yuko was in the Ohio Senate in Columbus, OH, a state senator. Nothing to do with D.C. That's the civics class for today :-) SC
