8 April 2024 (Monday) Path of Totality. We are about 70 miles north of Toledo, Ohio, which will have 00:01:20 of total darkness. I would go but the traffic will be unbearable, and clouds are forecasted across much of the path (most of Texas and Ohio that I researched at least), which is sad. I turned mine in a couple hours to spare, like we do. Didn’t have a clue my ringer had died; and I only threw Irving’s name as my sub bc I figured you would launch him yet again though I’m certain he’s fine and a liar, but I could eliminate one of your picks should the unfortunate occur, which it did. Same reason I made Harrell my joker (I knew you would) and why I listed Jimmy Carter (don’t wanna get caught w pants down should he actually die). I did my best to make this a 6-on-6 match or so, and to that extent I’m ok with my lineup. But they’ll either all be dead or ok by March 4th.

The great Chris Cross from Ultravox should be mentioned here, and now he is. A bassist himself, Sir Creep always considered Chris a hack who played through a series of pedals. That is until (*caution: name drop coming) he conversed with Midge Ure directly and was told no, in fact every note you hear is played by Mr Cross. At that moment SirC had new respect for him. Ultravox has always been one of his favourite listens. SirC never got to see Ultravox, due to cancellations more than anything else. Sadly, this is the ultimate cancellation. RIP SC

Thought the symbol of what became Pearl Harbor would make for an interesting topic now that we are down to 5 survivors, so easy peasy to keep track of. We had 6 till this week. A WWII veteran from Rhode Island, one of the last survivors of the attack on the USS Arizona at Pearl Harbor, has died. Raymond Haerry's death was disclosed by Tim Gray, a local filmmaker who included Haerry in a new documentary, Remember Pearl Harbor, to be aired nationally on PBS this December on the 75th anniversary of the attack. Haerry died Sept. 27 in West Warwick at 94. His death leaves just five survivors from the USS Arizona. The rest of the short obit is fascinating so I suggest a quick read. This band was a friend of mine/my band on MySpace way back when, but the death of that platform pre-YouTube and they became a mere memory. So tonight I tried once again to try to remember their name or songs/album that I enjoyed so much back around 2006-07. But how do you search when you have nothing to go by other than they were from Vancouver/Victoria BC? Perseverance paid off! I finally found them an hour ago! Relatively big news locally in The D. Police in Florida have been trying to locate Detroit Lions cornerback Cameron Sutton for two weeks, according to ESPN. An arrest warrant has been issued for the NFL star in Florida, with the cornerback wanted by police on a domestic violence charge. He was an important starter for the Lions and is owed a guaranteed $10M for 2024. The Lions released him two days ago and will be asking the league to waive the salary on code of conduct grounds. More importantly, how the hell can anyone be off the grid for two weeks (when being actively sought) and the fears are he has been dead from suicide. In any case. a big story as it develops day by day. Sutton sounds like a real POS so has what’s coming to him either way. SC
