    Boy George

I also note in passing she is immediately above Kenzaburo Oe on the list who just died so that should be nice and easy for the updates!

Authors Last A Long Time, But....

Some indication that Rachel Pollack may have died this morning - Neil Gaiman mentioned she was on her way out yesterday, so entirely plausible she has gone. Created the first trans superhero for DC Comics' Doom Patrol. Obviously awaiting some kind of news report to confirm.

    Political Frailty

With respect - garbage. Especially a cross-bencher. They have no real power as such - an advisory body filled with cronies and admittedly failed politicians- you know the kind that actually have some political power or history. Christ, she's even better placed on the list of This Is Your Life alumni. When Dame Floella Benjamin dies, do you expect her in the Political Frailty thread? Maybe you do, I'd still stick her in the Play Away thread.

    Political Frailty

Once again, not a politician. She was a paralympian. She was an aristocrat. She was an activist. And any and all of those threads would have been more apt. Just because some cunt is in the Lords does not make them a politician. IMO.

    Nobel Prize In Death

Kenzaburo Oe gets his QO for the unique pick on the DDP: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/wires/pa/article-11853183/Novelist-Nobel-laureate-Kenzaburo-Oe-dies-aged-88.html Or the BBC even: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-64938314
  8. In the interests of impartiality, the BBC would have to give some to refugee welfare, and some to finance thugs to beat them up.
  9. Lollobrigida and Mirisch to top and tail either way around. I'm too tired to think, ha!
  10. Nobody bother with this? We are moments away from Kimmel....

    Dead Pop Stars

Phil Titus, bassist with Harlow based band Morning Parade, reportedly dead: Although they didn't do much chartwise, their songs Under The Stars and Speechless appeared on The Vampire Diaries TV series.

    I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue Radio 4

Bill Tidy had been the longest lived panellist on the show until his death yesterday: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/obituaries/2023/03/12/bill-tidy-cartoonist-who-won-cult-following-cloggies-fosdyke/ That honour now goes to John Cleese.

    Hartlepool Deadlypool 2023

Bill Tidy, who was on Celebrity Squares is a mid table hit and my first hit on this pool: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/obituaries/2023/03/12/bill-tidy-cartoonist-who-won-cult-following-cloggies-fosdyke/ Edit: I'm having a look for panto appearances, must be one! 2nd Edit: Can't find one. Also, although he was inspired by the Garstang Morris Men for The Cloggies and they appeared on his This Is Your Life programme, I can't find him ever having participated!!! Though he did have them in for tea when they performed for him on his fiftieth. Ah well, I think he's a unique for me anyway, so some comfort.

    Activists

Reports that Pun Plamondon, US activist who founded the White Panther Party and was once on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list has died:
  16. Now Nigel Farage sticks the boot in: Maybe he should look back at his own pronouncements on foreigners and consider just how close his language came to 1930s Germany.
  17. Of course Lord Reith himself harboured pro-fascist views, expressing admiration for Hitler, Mussolini and the Nazis. I wonder if this is what Fabricant meant?
  18. Michael Fabricant, he of the "that's definitely his real hair" Tory brigade, weighs in: Bring back some decency to public life you charlatan.

    Death Anniversary Thread

5 years ago today comedian and entertainer Ken Dodd died aged 90, and I was so tickled that I progressed to the next round of the Deathlist Cup that year on the back of that!

    Winter Olympic Deaths

No indication it is the same person, but could this death notice relate to Team GB cross country skier Richard Aylmer who competed at the 1956 Games? The age would be right: http://announcements.telegraph.co.uk/deaths/262962/aylmer

    Celebrity Chefs

Graham Newbould, former chef for Her Majesty The Queen on the Royal Yacht Britannia and at Buckingham Palace, Telegraph Obit: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/obituaries/2023/03/10/graham-newbould-royal-chef-1980s-who-made-queen-penny-sandwiches/ Revealed the Queen's aversion to angles on her sarnies, so they had to be cut into circles.
