Mason Mount sings God Save The QUEEN, Iranians stand in solidarity with the human rights of their own country (think on that England and Wales), not playing against Iran's first team keeper, fans have ticketing problems in gaining access to stadium. Doesn't stop Lineker & Co spunking in their pants at half time.

As a bald, ginger, gay, disabled migrant worker, what are the chances of Gianni Infantini surviving the tournament?

Nick Bollettieri reportedly dead: https://www.tennisworldusa.org/tennis/news/Tennis_Stories/124359/legendary-coach-nick-bollettieri-passes-away/ Actually not sure of that source mind you. Recent twitters suggest he might still be alive, but he is on the verge of pegging it, so off your lists for 2023.

Turns up to collect an Honorary Academy Award: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/wires/ap/article-11449211/Honorary-Oscar-awards-celebrate-Fox-Weir-Warren-Palcy.html None of the other honorees look like they are on their last legs - which is surprising, you normally get one worth watching. In this case, it is Fox himself.

Those currently on the List of the Lost whose biography has not been updated: Joyce Reynolds (actress) Ernst Walder Leon Lissek Mary "Mollie" Walker Tomas Mac Siomoin Eleonore Schonborn Silas Alexander Rene Clemencic Egidius Braun Glen Glenn Natty Wailer Stanislaw Kowalski Antonio Russo Thue Christiansen Jigme Gyatso Wiltrud Topic-Mersmann Fritz Pleitgen Marie-Louise Wirth Peter Butler (but will probably obit at the end of the year - Ronnie Hellstrom's Biog however is updated) Kay Parker Updated biogs may stop folk from picking them again, I think. Looking at the names, folk really should try and pick people with not overly European names, unless they are hugely famous.

I'm glad geography is my weakest subject. Back in the day we all pronounced it Catarrh. Subsequently, we were forced to change it to cat-argh. Now it's cutter. Spare us!

Martin Rees turns up on Sky News discussing space exploration. Nowt to add to the above, save he's been Astronomer Royal for 27 years. No walking stick or wheelchair, but he appears to be left-handed and all witches must DIE!!!

Danish International Master Bjorn Brinck-Claussen, being reported dead aged 80:

Good take on all of the above. I've plucked out this sentence - I'd argue we were living with the consequences of Thatcherism up to 2020. Brexit broke that link, now the poor sods of this country will be living with that for decades, but hey, they voted for them and it. I couldn't bring myself to watch This England. By default, there will be a huge gathering of sympathy for the main character(s). From what I saw on the trailers, that was obvious. I dunno what it's like, the UK House of Cards was awesome, but we are dealing with real life cunts here. This is the flip side of TV, there is a major story and three months later there is a dramatisation of it. That's weak imo.

Ah, but among deadpoolers, famous and famous for having cancer (FAFFHC) is enough.
-
No, I'll admit I didn't. Why has British telly lost the ability to dramatise real life in a real way? Social commentary seems to be under-represented, Skins was above average I guess, I, Daniel Blake for the big screen is how it's done, but you get a bigger audience on the tellybox. You have the niche stuff that concentrates on one aspect, but they never open it up to telling stories in the wider context - the personal with the political. Someone captures that market - BAFTAs and riches await.

I'm sure it will be fine. However, I've said before on the Forum that It's A Sin was a sanitised version of the AIDS crisis, I stand by that. Look at shows like Boys From The Blackstuff, Our Friends In The North, This Life for example and you'll see probably the high watermark of British drama. RTD is best suited to sci-fi, dealing with real issues he's a bit meh. Imo.

Every "hot take" may get your fingers burned! Anyway, imagine my surprise to wake up to see Noddy Holder holding a megaphone screaming "It's Christmas!" on the latest ads for Iceland. And how come ASDA can afford Will Ferrell? As you were... -

Bit of liver cancer as well he says. New thread opened in his name in 3...2...

The remotest chance he could turn up in the future may require me to continue ignoring it. Shame, one of my friends knows the new Doctor well, I think he mentioned the RSAMD or summat. I will be watching the Tennant/Tate comeback though.

Les Dennis now appearing as Grandad in the Only Fools musical. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-11430801/Now-starring-Fools-musical-Les-Dennis-reveals-careers-heartbreak-tragedy.html Must be nice to be described thus: Now 69, Les Dennis is a survivor. Having won New Faces in the early 70s as an impressionist and comedian, he's one of very few men left standing from a generation of comics who have otherwise died, been lost to scandal or faded away.

Any relation to Ruby Tuesday? Or is Tuesday becomes Sunday some kind of not so in-joke about time? Did they kill off John Bishop yet?

Given my team is still noted as 1985 hits in the Theme Team and the main game, frozen in time, I'm thinking about changing the name. But it means changing the name every year. But hey, I've just realised my arrogance in this thread, for which I apologise. I may not see January, depending on how harsh this winter is. I've spent most of today in bed where it's warm, and I'm mainly living off porridge and sandwiches. (The cold doesn't kill people, Tory policies do!)

In that case, in due time I'll see about a shortlist.
