Floyd Lane, a basketball player implicated in the point shaving scandal of 1951 and a part of CCNY Beavers history, reportedly dead aged 94: https://nypost.com/2024/07/29/sports/ex-ccny-player-floyd-laynes-death-provides-reminder-of-second-chances/ Interestingly, Wiki has him later declared innocent, while the Post's report quite clearly has him admitting to taking $2500 from gamblers. -

With the news that Adam Peaty wasn't feeling great with the COVID before he got silver last night, worth remembering that he was presented with his medal by Princess Anne. Quite a close lean-in as well. Admittedly, Anne looks like she wouldn't accept COVID and tell it to go to hell. But she may want to get tested.

Diving Daley - come on son! And Noah - go on! Meantime, you'd almost think Dan Evans didn't exist the way they have banged on about Murray. And Rebecca Adlington being reduced to a blubbering mess last night. You could have filled a swimming pool with her tears. -
Ken Ledsham, production assistant on the Who story The Time Monster and production designer for The Ribos Operation, Destiny Of The Daleks and The King's Demons, reportedly dead: https://www.doctorwhonews.net/2024/07/ken_ledsham.html Blake's 7, Tenko, Secret Army and yes, Jim'll Fix It among his many credits. Dead Ken season continues!

This is what happens when you find God and lose gold. Swim on a Sunday? Punished. -
Girls, Girls, Girls. No we are not having a show in the Casino. Edna O'Brien has died, and with such novels imaginatively titled "The Country Girls", "Girls In Their Married Bliss" and simply "Girl" it is a wonder she ever made a living. So she departs us before next month, I assume because August Is A Wicked Month, but Torva Messor gains a third hit and steals into second place, and is now three-fifths of the way to a straight. No bonuses, however, and leaderboard updated.

Ah, my view is when the QO is posted. Not everybody's view I'll grant you, and it won't really matter. In terms of fame, let's go with Edna. I think milestones are for more famous celebs. Carter lives still.... can he make it to be hit #300?
-
Makes her, rather than Benjamin Luxon, the 200th hit on the DDP so far. Hmm. I think we are looking at early 300s if it continues at this rate.

You all right doll? Yeah, multiply that by 17 times and throw in it is still summer. The stars have obviously aligned for Biblio as he has a solo hit with Australian actor/playwright Ray Lawler, his play Summer of the Seventeenth Doll having premiered as long ago as 1955. Crikey mate, he was 103, after all. Biblio's second hit pushes him up the board, but no bonuses. Leaderboard updated.

Hit #199 is Ray Lawler QO: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-13679103/Australian-trailblazer-playwright-Ray-Lawler-dies.html Will we break 200 before July ends?
