How’s Your 2022 Shortlist going?
YoungWillz replied to The Old Crem's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Research for my 1986 TOTP Theme Team is finished. Going to compile this tomorrow - and for the first time I'm not convinced some of my starting line up will make the start gate. That will allow me to complete my line up for my main team. As previously, comedy team will write itself. We are into the worst period where you've waited all year and nobody moves on, then there's a flurry at the end. Some big names are falling already. -
Shame his missus can't end her incarceration just like that. Where's his fucking solidarity? Him and Brendan Cox I won't miss if they never get reported on again. Probably another decade of it at least though.

Not enough news on Jo Whiley in a whiley. Yes, the crap you pick up when researching potential dead pop stars. Reported earlier in this thread about having her phone swiped, she's also fallen ill for a couple of weeks for open water swimming (because British rivers are renowned for their clarity and purity) and also moaned about going through the menopause while her radio show was being criticised. All within a year. Death by selfie for 2022? You decide.

Trump advisor Peter Navarro, aged 72, is apparently unvaccinated and unrepentant: https://uk.news.yahoo.com/peter-navarro-unvaccinated-and-unrepentant-184700889.html

Not sure - QOs are becoming a lottery. Alvin Seeco Patterson, who guided Bob Marley back into music, was the percussionist on some of the Wailers' biggest UK hits and was there as Marley drew his last breath still hasn't a QO at all. But Hilmar Koppar has, as does some dame who was a US college advocate for human rights. I think Hogh's relative youth and cancer are a sub-editor's cream dream.

Hugh Barker's professional profile: https://ips.org.uk/?post_type=fellow&p=5876 LOT of light entertainment shows. BFI profile: https://www2.bfi.org.uk/films-tv-people/4ce2ba93749fe

Professional body reporting the death of Hugh Barker, sound man on Marco Polo and The Macra Terror for Doctor Who:
-
Michael Pointon, British jazz trombonist who also did some documentary work for the tellybox and some interviewing for the BBC radio, dead: https://syncopatedtimes.com/uk-trombonist-mike-pointon-has-died-at-80/ Got a Guardian Obit: https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2021/nov/12/michael-pointon-obituary His South Bank interview with Max Wall meeting Samuel Beckett led him to co-found the Max Wall Society. (Does anyone remember Max Wall these days?).

Don't I know it! A previous pick for me. It's hit Toby Hadoke by now, so hopefully an obit in the Telegraph or Guardian should be pretty quick. And it will be amazing reading.
-
Really sad - I'm sure his turn in Ace Of Wands was an awakening for a young boy like me. He was a stunning man in his youth.

Twitter reporting the death of Henry Woolf aged 91. The Collector in Dr Who: The Sun Makers, Arthur Sultan in The Rutles, Frankie Barrow in Steptoe And Son, etc etc etc. His connection to Pinter should make him QO. A fantastic character actor. If true, RIP. IMDB: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0941146/ He's been a DDP pick previously, I assume he still is. Edit: Nope, so List of the Missed when confirmed.

Death Notice for Sir John Butterfill, former Tory MP for Bournemouth West (1983-2010), aged 80: http://announcements.telegraph.co.uk/deaths/253421/butterfill-sir-john-valentine Former PPS to Cecil Parkinson. Caught up in expenses scandal for designating a house he bought as his main home and doing it up, despite owning a six bedroom house in Surrey, and that big old property was what he claimed second homes allowances on, including for staff quarters. Also verged on, but ultimately decided didn't, that in return for supporting Cameron as PM, he would get elevated to the House of Lords was not a breach of Parliamentary Standards. Also wanted the UK to abandon GMT to save the clocks going back and forward. Obviously because that only affected the Scots. Imo, another selfish cunt using his position to benefit himself, you decide your own position.

Other sources now reporting Graeme Edge's death. If so, a List of the Missed, last picked 2020: http://www.derbydeadpool.co.uk/deadpool2020/celebs_E.html#edgeg
-
Graeme Edge, erstwhile drummer for The Moody Blues, being reported dead: Not sure about the source meself, but a report is a report?
-
Jakucho Setouchi for the List of The Missed, last picked 2020: http://www.derbydeadpool.co.uk/deadpool2020/celebs_S.html#setoj0

Not sure now whether converting your joker so early was a miscalculation? Time will out. A reminder that all those who have played a Joker and not converted it as yet, or play a Joker this month, you only have until 30 November to do so. No imminent rush, but start thinking about it. Additional help as always is available from the helpdesk by PM.

The only apartheid we normally have at the casino is that we have several tables, but as I am running this virtually, all my players are seated round one giant table! Yes it's all one big melting pot (sing your own version of the Blue Mink hit). Not so for FW de Klerk, apartheid icon turned Nobel Laureate opportunist who has gone from a name of history to a name from history. A hit for Sean, gcreptile, Death Impends, Joey Russ, Perhaps, Grim Up North, Banana and Captain Chorizo. Bonuses: gcreptile plays a 2: Pair 2s - 10 Points; Two Pair 2s and As - 15 Points; Two Pair 2s and Js - 15 Points; Two Pair 2s and 6s - 15 Points; Two Pair 2s and Qs - 15 Points - Total - 70 Additional Points (at least he has a balanced hand, 10 cards, 5 pairs!). Death Impends plays a 10: Pair 10s - 10 Points; Two Pair 10s and 2s - 15 Points - Total 25 Additional Points. Grim Up North plays a Black Joker: 50 Additional Points Banana plays Q Spades: Pair Qs (Spades and Clubs) - 10 Points; Pair Qs (Spades and Hearts) - 10 Points; Three of a Kind (Qs) - 20 Points - Total - 40 Additional Points. Captain Chorizo plays Q Clubs: Pair Qs (Clubs and Spades) - 10 Points; Pair Qs (Clubs and Hearts) - 10 Points; Two Pair Qs (Clubs and Spades) and 9s - 15 Points; Two Pair Qs (Clubs and Hearts) and 9s - 15 Points; Three of a Kind Qs - 20 Points; Full House Qs over 9s - 80 Points - Total - 150 Additional Points. msc had de Klerk as a sub and draws 6 Hearts for 6 Points added. gcreptile maintains a lead, but Captain Chorizo scores heavily to cling to the coat tails of a possible win. I'm going to call it now that unless there's a massacre, both me and Crumble are out of the running! There is likely to be a fight for that portrait in the new loos! Leaderboard updated.

Spike Heatley, jazz double bassist with various outfits including CCS above, being reported dead: He was also apparently in the house band for Play Away. Let's see a cloud through the round window. Also a couple of appearances in The Avengers! IMDB: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm6805514/
-
As host (genial sometimes, but always impartial) it's not up to me to think. It's all in the cards and the stars... I'll have a look at this in a while, I'm just up and one coffee ain't going to cut the calculations.

Gavan O'Herlihy reportedly dead: https://www.irishecho.com/2021/11/death-of-irish-actor-gavan-o-herlhy Apparently died last month. Chuck Cunningham in Happy Days and many credits, I'll pull out Death Wish 3, Superman III and Never Say Never Again. Was in Star Trek: Voyager and you know what that means - Scavvy Hunt miss.

Dinna fash, Boris has the very replacement:
-
Just about to post this. I will remember her most as Mrs Hughes in How We Used To Live, essentially a schools programme which was much of the only TV we ever got in the classroom back then, and which I adored. Formidable is the way I would describe her.

Understated menace is what Clifford Rose brought to his roles. What he brings to Bibliogryphon is an unique hit, Rose having been another perennial pick on his team. No bonuses, leaderboard updated.

Clifford Rose Telegraph Obit: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/obituaries/2021/11/10/clifford-rose-prolific-shakespearean-actor-shot-fame-television/ I'll dish out Poker Points later.
