Guardian Obit for Peter Watson-Wood, TV documentary cameraman turned film producer, aged 92: https://www.theguardian.com/film/2021/nov/01/peter-watson-wood-obituary Mad Dogs And Englishmen and The Wicker Tree among his credits. Interestingly, the obit refers to his friendship with Anthony Newley. Leslie Bricusse just died, now this (though when exactly, I'm not going on a search). Maybe Tony Newley's Mates should be a theme team? Things come in threes, who's next?

Those with Pat Martino in their team - fret not. (See what I did there?). The jazz guitarist was certainly El Hombre as far as Sean, Joey Russ and Salmon Mousse were concerned. Bonus: Salmon Mousse plays a 7 - Pair of 7s - 10 Additional Points. Leaderboard updated. (Jazz hands!).

Oh, FFS, I've just done an update on the Poker Tourney, and now I've got to go back. Bloody, typical, I'm having another cigarette and pour myself another coffee.

Well, Pat Martino fans may have to wait for puns until a Qobit (preferred term round here) appears. How long is a cricket pitch? 22 yards? Hey, it was 22 years that Alan Igglesden had a brain tumour before he returned to the pavilion in the sky (if you believe in that sort of thing...). Coincidence? Yes, of course it is. Cricket's a slow game, but 22 years? Igglesden's passing caught out a few of us, but not gcreptile, msc, Death Impends and Grim Up North who all score. Bonuses: gcreptile plays a 6 - Pair of 6s - 10 Points; Two Pair of 6s and As - 15 Points; Two Pair of 6s and Js - 15 Points; Two Pair of 6s and Qs - 15 Points - Total: 55 Additional Points. msc plays a 10 - Pair of 10s - 10 Additional Points. Death Impends plays a 2 - Pair of 2s - 10 Additional Points. Banana brought Igglesden on as 12th man (13th actually, Ally McLaws was a first sub) - anyhow, draws a K Clubs for 13 Points added. gcreptile now puts clear daylight between himself and the chasing pack and becomes the first player this year to break the 1000 Point barrier. But holding 4 pairs now (which is ridiculous) a serious possibility of tremendous points coming if full houses are made. Anyway, leaderboard updated.

Wait. So the dessert was invented by his missus and one of his workers? And he took the credit? Actually, this technically makes him fringes of fame!

Another month has passed, so it is time to pull the lever on the wheel of (mis)fortune that is the Card Roulette. Be aware (though a reminder nearer the time) that November has 30 days. If you have played a Joker in your hand and not yet converted it (or will do during November) this conversion must take place by or on 30 November, otherwise the chance to convert will be lost. As always, the helpdesk will be open to discuss options if you are not sure how to maximise your pointage. Anyhow, the draw for October: Timestamp: 2021-10-31 11:53:56 UTC

Well, for someone who gave up the acting game a long time ago, it's still sad to learn of Gerard Ryder's death. Almost everyone involved in Get Some In! went on to have fairly successful careers. Selby and Ryder in the same year...so sad. I loved that show.

Seen Any Good Films Lately?
YoungWillz replied to Cowboy Ronnie's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
I went to see Dune (Part One!!) on Monday. It was my pal's birthday so a bunch of us went along to see it. Dragged a LOT. Actively shifting in my seat during the last 40 minutes. Surely it's going to end now? Now? NOW? Please god, NOW!!!??? Looked old actually. And some places not supposed to be funny actually laughed out loud at the banality of the script. Not to say there isn't a lot to like...but hey, cut out a lot of the crap and maybe it could have been done in one movie. Won't be seeing Part Two. -
Podcasts...I'm too old for all that nonsense now. Another way of the yoof shutting out the actual horribleness and also beauty of the world - check your phone, listen to a podcast - anything except actually interacting with reality! Escapism should be a temporary thing. I saw Q on some Channel 5 thing, might be the same one - the sheer horror writ across his face as a bunch of comedians demoted Tony Hancock to the lower reaches! Might have been a best comic actors thing - I remember Bill Owen being introduced as a wild card, and summarily dispensed with in favour of Joanna Lumley or somesuch. All that anal introspection of your peers just annoys me - public votes give an indication of how things stand from time to time, but really what is the point of that? I actively detest Last Of The Summer Wine, but having been forced to watch it, I can appreciate some of the acting in it. Anyway, yeah, probably the less I know about this guy the better. Far less see him on the tellybox.

Charles otherwise Charlie Bird, Irish journalist diagnosed with MND: https://www.irishmirror.ie/news/irish-news/charlie-bird-opens-up-motor-25315481 Like Maire Mhac, bit of a punt on an Irish national, but journalist so probably get some coverage here....maybe...possibly...

Pains me to say that Hadoke has been consorting with the redoubtable Quantick. Pains me further that they have chatted about Genesis Of The Daleks - a story I adore, basically because who has the guts to give to children a story about possible genocide? Anyhoo, I have nothing personally against Mr Q - basically because without looking him up, I have no idea what he has done or what he is "famous" for. Is he an Armando Ianucci? Cos he is a real pain in the arse.

Betty Driver Memorial Soapstar Superstar Thread
YoungWillz replied to M Busby Airlines's topic in DeathList Forum
I can't see Angela Webb making any statement on the date of death or funeral. I had a look at the Daily Post thing and it no longer mentions a funeral, but that is what is quoted on the Fansite, not Angela, on the funeral details. If she was friends with Moran, why would she wait 4 months to tell the Fansite? That's what bugs me and suggests the April date is likely. Gazette details provided by solicitors on production of a death certificate, and 25 April cannot possibly be mistaken for 21 or 28 January imo. Damn you, Kevin Banks! -
