    The Dead of 2020

Think I picked Conran in the past. He was up for re-nomination next year for summat. Looked awful recently. RIP to a master of his art.

L.T.D. Abraham Miller proving elusive despite coming from North Carolina with a fairly distinctive name. Johnny McGhee (aka John T McGhee) seems to a somewhat prolific guitarist, writing and producing songs all over the place. And yet I can only come up with a location (which may not be current) of Minneapolis, Minnesota: https://www.reverbnation.com/musician/johnnymcghee Edit: Johnny McGhee's FB: https://www.facebook.com/john.t.mcghee

Bloody lower reaches of the Top 40. Damn you to hell Lori, ha! Meantime...The Lurkers. Here is Pete Haynes website. http://petehaynes.co.uk/index.php/about-me/ Now dragging what little info there is...there's a picture of Ickenham Tube Station, so likely he's from Hillingdon Borough in West London. Says he got a drum kit at 17 and mentions that's around 1975. So I'm going for born 1957/58. Here's an article about the reformed Lurkers by their original vocalist from 2011 https://guernseypress.com/lifestyle/going-out/the-bunker/2011/10/08/i-didnt-mean-to-upset-sting/ Not much there but does indicate Howard Wall was working as a chef in Maidstone. So obviously then living down Kent way. A further interview from 2019 https://www.brightonandhovenews.org/2019/07/29/exclusive-interview-with-arturo-bassick-from-the-lurkers-and-999/ indicates that Pete Haynes "is not well physically" to perform. This article reveals that Haynes, Moore and Wall all attended Abbotsfield School in Ickenham: https://recordcollectormag.com/articles/eternal-contenders although Wall seems to have been slightly older than the other two. Stride seems to have been from that area but there's little on him biography wise.

Lori And The Chameleons. Lori Lartey apparently went on to marry Martin Healy of Dead Or Alive: http://link2wales.co.uk/liverpool-a/liverpool-l/ Comment here says that she was living in or around 2009 in Oxton On The Wirral: https://thevinylvillain.wordpress.com/2009/07/05/the-class-of-79-part-20/ Suggestion she was a teenager, so she wasn't born before 1960 or after 1966 (but that's being generous if she was already an art student when spotted). I guess Lori could be her name or any permutation of Lorraine, Loraine etc etc.

Light Of The World. I don't need this pressure on... David Baptiste - dunno if the GRO helps here but he's currently living in Old Hawkinge, Folkestone, Kent CT18 7QL. Sadly this lovely profile doesn't even hint at his age: https://www.starnow.co.uk/bap He's definitely English I believe. I remember having to check he was still alive when researching Beggar & Co. Twitter has let me down.

Screw all this flapping about with Lieutenant Pigeon. Found this: Which means Nigel Fletcher was born 7 May 1946.

Actually, strike all of the above, here's a pic of Nigel (sitting down, front) from 2019 from the BBC website: So probably still in Coventry making occasional local appearances on BBC Sounds. The clip associated is not available.

Lieutenant Pigeon. I'm wondering if Nigel Fletcher is the Nigel Fletcher associated with this Band on FB, and if so he seems to be based in Treharris, Wales. If so there's a phone number and an email address. Here's a picture of 1970s Pigeon (Nigel left, ginger): Here's a pic of The Imposters' drummer (also a Nigel Fletcher) Same guy?

@Ulitzer95 Before you go to bed, Ronald Bell of Kool and the Gang has reportedly died: https://www.spin.com/2020/09/ronald-khalis-bell-kool-and-the-gang-co-founder-dies-at-68/ I think he's probably a miss for my TOTP theme team, if so I'll post a 1984 hit.

Brilliant! Fair to say having watched them on TOTP, they weren't the youngest band on the stage - mid -late 20s certainly, apart from their cute drummer, whether session, Jewson or somebody else!

Wait a minute! This Tim Joyce on Twitter has linked to a Bill Clift number by The Late Show. Might be sheer coincidence but I'd like to be proved wrong.

Not a clue about any of the others I'm afraid. I'm wondering if "Nixi F Plonk" was in fact one of those sound machines they often renamed back in the day, so someone programmed the keyboards and off they went! Either that or it was someone who was a member of another band who had to go by a pseudonym....but you'd have thought somebody somewhere would have looked into that. Anyway, as far as I can go...

The Late Show. I have too many windows open for Bill Clift so I'm just going to deal with him. (Hopefully you don't already know all this!) Apparently resident in Whitstable according to rateyourmusic and myspace. Backed up by this two year old post on FB. There is a William J Clift resident in Whitstable according to 192. Now he claims to have performed with Wang Chung - here is a reference, but that refers (unfortunately) to a Gordon "Bill" Clift. This may be shite, but if it is our man, looks like he grew up in Gillingham. The Discogs page linked to the Late Show is different to this Discogs page which is correct. There are definite links between Deptford (as referred to on Discogs) and Whitstable for Clift. He is credited as having co-written a song for Sister Act, though as William Clift. Gawd knows if this gives you anything.
