Can't find anything by the Butthole Surfers that fits....

I've got another but it's unfair to go again.....

It's amazing how powerful the original was as a solo, with no offence to the Almond/Pitney version, and yet it was the duet that got to #1! Astonishing.

@Cat O'Falk Too easy!

This song became more successful on subsequent release than the original. There being a gap of 21 and a bit years when the song first hit the UK top ten, the original artist appeared as a featured artist on the same song when it became a duet and hit #1. The original and then featured artist is dead, the other artist on the #1 version was part of a more famous duo. Plenty of info there.

I may not be the only person to have Chris Doleman on my team, but damn sure I'll be first to claim as my first hit (seeing as Terry Jones dns, grumble). https://www.dailymail.co.uk/wires/ap/article-7941667/Hall-Fame-DE-Doleman-dies-age-58.html

So interesting that the Mail Obits for Doleman and Shane don't show up on a Google Search any more. I actually find little if anything from the Mail showing up actually...hmmm.
