DL Status Updates: Statements, Obsevations & Verbal Tennis
YoungWillz replied to Lord Fellatio Nelson's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
We are all different and yet we are all the same. I joined because I had been following for a while, then was faced with my own mortality, quickly followed by a family bereavement. I don't take the pooling side too seriously, winning is for losers, er no...wait, for winners actually, ha! But I am interested in finding out about more people, their lives and deaths and of course not missing any deaths of interest to me. Inevitably I would find out sometimes years after a person had died that they were gone and wonder why their death hadn't been reported - here, I can find that information much more quickly than through the UK media. My knowledge base has increased to the extent that I can now answer several questions on University Challenge, rather than the odd one or two I used to answer. So we are all here for our own reasons and sometimes some will take a break or leave because life moves on. I'm sure this will become an occasional pastime for you in due course, but as long as you are enjoying it and you don't take any posts on here too seriously, go for it. And if you really get tense with someone, block 'em. -
Political Discussions And Ranting Thread
YoungWillz replied to Deathray's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
*sigh* Only so much I can take. "Conservative Councils cost you less than Labour" - Theresa May, 2018 pre-Council elections. Grenfell disaster caused by penny pinching Conservative Council. Not only that, but now every taxpayer in the country is paying for it through re-cladding tower blocks across the country. Jeremy Hunt apologises for breast cancer screening debacle. He will have to apologise again as it's just been discovered the same thing happened with cervical cancer screening. All on top of Windrush. And they have no idea what they're doing on Brexit. -
She's on Question Time right now, looking like she escaped from an episode of Blake's 7.

Now, I'm posting this just out of sheer interest. Here is the death notice of Lady Carey Elizabeth Bassett (nee Coke), daughter of the 5th Earl of Leicester: http://announcements.telegraph.co.uk/deaths/224353/basset Wiki (mention): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Coke,_5th_Earl_of_Leicester#Marriage_and_family Now, her wedding was attended by The Queen Mother and there we go, some film archive footage from her wedding in April 1960 was captured by the East Anglian Film Archive, available here: http://www.eafa.org.uk/catalogue/146003 Well worth a watch if you are at all interested in the fashions, the cars of the period or page boys in white satin outfits. Also, watch out for the chap in the flat cap being halted by the police. Think you can spot someone from the lower classes trying to crash a nob's wedding? This guy did! It's hilarious.

Fair dos, I cannot catch them all. A salutary reminder to players that those outlying picks might need to be brought to my attention. Going to be some shuffling about on the next leaderboard, coming soon....

According to Twitter, Ray Wilson has died.

Oh yes, I remember watching it as a boy, obviously in colour. It did seem old fashioned even then though, compared with some of the stuff that was coming out. And of course they never showed the cops beating a confession out of the bad guy until he was a bloody pulp.
