    Political Frailty

Oh I know. Too busy enjoying his job as a Whip. The move to get Rutherglen out of Glasgow into South Lanarkshire was very much Robert Brown's (LibDem) baby, he became a hanger on to that. There's almost nothing he did of any consequence to the community. Turned up like a bad penny come election time. Personal experience - he was the only local elected official who didn't turn up to any fundraiser for my brother after his accident.

    Political Frailty

My former Labour MP Tommy McAvoy reportedly dead: Absolute fat waste of space who went to London and did nothing but write a column for the Rutherglen Reformer once a month. Very much typical of those Labour MPs who took their vote for granted.

    Theresa May

Well, well, well. All these discussions are moot, really. A modern day Mrs Thatch said Bon Scott. One thing you could say about her was she had a vision for the future, and a re-shaping of the United Kingdom. Whether she was right or not and how that affected then and now obviously is divisive. I'm afraid to say that the current incumbents are squandering the opportunity of Brexit if there is one is to re-shape the UK once more. However, it is all short-termism, narrow-minded and blinkered running of the country. Not one of the Government benches has a vision of what that could be, not one. Instead, we are landed with high tax rates (on an economy which essentially has full employment), a larger debt and state with ever more layers of government while the things they are in charge of fall to bits around us. EU migration has simply been replaced by migration from the Indian sub-continent and other places - those figures currently dwarf what we were getting under the EU. May's legacy is nothing as leader and horrific as Home Secretary. Since 2010, there really seems to have been no grand plan, with a succession of leaders willing to form an orchestra while the country burns.

    Theresa May

Two people whose parents were immigrants. One a known security risk to the state. One who used her position to advocate for international aid following unregistered meetings with a foreign power. Ho hum. Ah well, if that's wat you want from your leaders, there's little hope for the vast majority of Tories who will no doubt be TINOs to you.

Thanks for that. And so who, in your opinion, currently fulfils the real Conservative role in all of the above?

    Theresa May

Given there are many shades of Tories currently, what is your definition of a real Conservative?

    Hooroo, Mate.

Maybe it is just me, I hadn't realised Germaine Greer was resident in a care home. I should perhaps have considered her as an option more carefully.

I knew Steve Lawrence more as an actor. Anyhow, I am sure @Ulitzer95 has already clocked he hit the UK singles charts and his entry there updated.

I know, the whole internet is full of misinformation. And information. Don't know what went wrong at the secondhandsongs site, they are normally fairly reliable.

Haven't had a fruit pastille in years! I shall go in search of them next time I'm at the shops. Didn't they do giant ones at some point? Probably all that sugar isn't going to be a help to my overall health either.

2 grandfathers dead from lung cancer (smokers), 2 grandmothers dead from dementia (not from cancer through passive smoking). OldWillz was a smoker but gave up. Bladder cancer killed him 45 years after he gave up. I started very late (23 yo). However, I would like to die of something I did, rather than something I didn't do. As I said before, when I gave up last time, that's when the heart attack came (don't vape, kids!). You never know. There's Nick Sheridan dying from an aneurysm at 32, there's Rupert Murdoch still going. Unfairness is part of life I guess.

Ah, yes that is the one. Later than I thought, there may have been earlier less reported incidents before that. I'm fairly fit for my age and have done nothing to deserve it. The ciggies are taking their toll though, I'm considering a severe cut down. Brisk walks, fresh air, loads of carrying heavy shopping and no car. And possibly all the additives in Angel Delight and Kia-Ora when I was a boy.

I recall the late 70s/early 80s, when jogging as a craze started. IIRC someone dropped dead from jogging in around 1981, that put an end to my keep fit regime. Everything in moderation as my dead mum used to say. Don't think she meant cannabis and sodomy though.

    Curse Of The Eurovision

Well it came last with 48 points, some countries would kill for that these days, ha! Joe was however rewarded with a side prize of Best Singer though. IIRC, that contest was the one we were represented by Beg Steal Or Borrow which I have to say haunts me to this day, it's a great song and I love it.

    The Deathlist Kitchen

Just had a square sausage sandwich. It was amazing. I have no cooker, the microwave has been my friend for many years, but I have missed certain things. If this thing does all its bells and whistles, I'll be back buying bacon and pork chops and the like. I'll get the hang, hopefully.
