The UK as a whole or personally? UK top 3 public vote was Lithuania (12), Iceland (10), Bulgaria (8). We gave France a decent chunk (5 or 6) and gave Italy (the winners) 2-4. I can't remember exactly. Personally, I voted for Iceland as much on last year as this year in all honesty, but I thought it was a surprisingly decent year for songs and am perfectly happy with the UK's top 3, plus the lukewarm points for Italy.

I don't even think they hate us. I think they just couldn't give a shit about us, which is worse. Having heard them all tonight, though, I don't think it was vindictive to give us nul points, we just were really average and easy to forget.

It's not just about us choosing to send someone decent, it's about someone decent wanting to take part. I'd be really interested to see how someone like Adele might do at Eurovision and I do feel that after 25 years without winning it, she'd be a national hero if she won, but I guess from her point of view, there's always the risk of finishing 20th on 40 points, losing out to some nobody from Latvia so why take the chance? But surely then we'd prove we have no chance whoever we send. The argument that western nations lose out to the political vote doesn't really stack up, though, when Austria, Portugal and the Netherlands have all won in the last decade.

It does all have the air of desperation. "I'm not getting my way, so here's another thing you did to screw me up." I'm not entirely sure what it is he wants though, he's currently got a free life to do what he wants in the sunshine of LA, with his wife and (soon to be) children and he also gets to keep his title, while doing nothing to warrant it. It is peculiar that the Royal Family has ruined his life yet he still wants to be the Duke of Sussex for some reason.

I actually came here to mention something else on the same theme. I'm confused as to what Harry is seeking to achieve? He ended the Oprah interview by stating he hoped to re-establish close relations with his father and brother and then came over for Prince Philip's funeral. There was an assumption that would be the first step in thawing the ice on the bombshells they'd dropped but instead he now seems to be stepping up his 'revelations', now claiming to be on a destructive spiral between the ages of 28 to 32, trying to block the pain out and calling out his dad for not being more supportive. How continuing to air your dirty laundry in public is supposed to heal rifts is beyond me, which suggests he has no intention of doing that at all. I'm also slightly concerned that during this incredibly difficult time when he was suffering with fragile mental health, we gave him a gun and sent him to Iraq.

Out of interest, on Wikipedia there is a distinction between Members of the Cabinet and 'Also attending Cabinet' - do I assume we're only picking members who were part of the Cabinet at some point? (Most eventually got an upgrade to the full Cabinet if at one point they attended, but not all). Only one I've researched so far!
