Roger Etchegaray receives his long-awaited obituary.
-
According to this his cancer is stage 4 and cannot be operated on. Assuming it's true definitely DDP material and possibly Drop 40 if he makes it.
-
My argument was that based on the statement "Qualifying names will be those getting an obit by sources used by the Windy City Deadpool, also found on its own thread at this site." MSN should be accepted, as this year's Windy City Deadpool includes MSN. I was just pointing it out because I realize I can't have it both ways, but I'll let SC make the final call.
-
Based on the Lars Larsen precedent of allowing MSN, both Etchegaray and Ellis have QO's.
-
"I've never wished a man dead, but I have read some obituaries with great pleasure."

People Who Are Dead According To Wikipedia...

Anonymous user has reported that popular DL pick Doug Supernaw has died via suicide. Probably a hoax as there is nothing on his FB page. -
Is this an acceptable obituary for Lars Larsen? You didn't explicitly mention MSN but it is included in Windy City. The fact that Univision is also included seems to imply that foreign-language sources are acceptable.

I had Lee Kerslake for K, not Juliette Kaplan

Because it's almost August and they are just talking about putting her in hospice (which can have life expectancy up to 6 months) I feel she has a realistic chance to see 2020, certainly more so than Blanco. Definitely a dead cert and Drop 40 virtually guaranteed if she does.

Sent my entry.

Cardinals pitcher Bob Gibson diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

Do we have any information on whether it is acute myeloid leukemia or acute lymphocytic? The Guardian just says "acute leukemia". If it's the latter then I don't see justification for picking him, but if it's the former he's probably a 50/50-ish case.

My analysis for what it's worth: Fairlie, McGahan, Parrikar: Adios amigos Blanco (JOKER): "Nearing final days" but can still stand without assistance according to latest update. Should be a dead cert on paper, but I have a feeling she might (very barely) squeeze into 2020. 95% Coleman: Lung cancer has returned yet again, reportedly immune to radiation. 80% Bracknell: Don't trust her. 25% Mendelsohn: "Terminal" cancer in remission. 30% Hirono: No real updates on her cancer, but still active. 10% Dewar: 100% dead and dusted, but obit seems unlikely. Only real chance is possibly a passing mention during the elections in October, but even that's probably wishful thinking. Mzembi: No update since false death rumor, but it's Zimbabwe and he has stage 4 cancer. 60% Alagiah: Cancer returned in June. 45% Turnbull: No real news. 30% Gilbert: Still active. 20% Robinson: Given a 37% chance of survival (wherever they got that from), but was dropped by several players in Death By Numbers July 1, so maybe not. 35% Hallenga: Battling cancer for 10 years now. 15% Curley: Last update 2017, but incurable lung cancer. 40% Reigns: Not happening. 5% Gleason: Nope. 5% Ricksen: In hospice, last public appearance June 28. 97% P-Orridge: Leukemia, congestion in her lungs, and broke. But most recent update (Youtube) in March was optimistic, so could make 2020. 75% Hardly my best effort, I'll grant you.

92-year old Tunisian president hospitalized with “severe health crisis” Was just released from the hospital early this week, definitely someone to watch for 2020 if he makes it out alive.

Mark Warawa a hit for me, CBC obit: https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/mark-warawa-dead-cancer-1.5182705

I sent my entry.

Kathleen Blanco jokes about death rumors, “no longer” in hospice care. I’d take the second part with a grain of salt.

I'll take 2, which, given the current pace, is actually a reasonable estimate.

Former Nauru president Sprent Dabwido given weeks to live A big gamble on AO Deadpool, but seems like it paid off. Poor bloke; I guess this is what happens when you dissent in a third world country.

His life is in jeopardy.
