Oh right! Well anyway, here's my feelings... Sad? Yeah, I used to listen to The Fall a lot in my student days (early noughties), and saw him in concert around that time and again in 2016. How time flies. Legends like him will never be replaced Surprised? No, not really surprised at all. He looked like shit in recent photos, probably even worse than Wetton did during his wedding and Christmas photos in late 2016 shortly before he died. Kicking myself for not putting him on my own shadow list? You bet.

Both Wetton and Smith would have been great picks for the Deathlist and both are definitely well known enough to qualify. The two things that they definitely had in common is that they were both heavy drinkers at least for a significant part of their lives and they both died in their 60s. Apart from that they played completely different styles of music. Wetton has more in common with guys like Greg Lake and Chris Squire, whereas Smith has more in common with the post-punk movement of the late '70s and early '80s. Oh and I have had the privilege to have seen both in concert as well!

    The 2nd Death of 2018

Javier Perez de Cuéllar until the day he dies

    Eric Clapton

Well there's the Jimi Hendrix Experience, the Ramones and Motorhead anyway. There are others too like Soft Heap, but I'm thinking more of well known bands
  6. If this was Reddit you'd be getting a heap of downvotes by now

Holy fuck, he looks awful. I saw him in 2016 and he looked bad but nowhere near that bad!

    Thoughts On The 2018 List

If you check out his thread you'll see what I wrote about him - basically I saw him live not all that long ago and he didn't look great then and it sounds like he's only gone downhill since then!

    Thoughts On The 2018 List

That's a good analysis. The last five on this year's list are probably the most questionable picks. I had definitely underestimated how unwell Mark E. Smith actually is.

Maybe he's in a worse state than I'd thought. We will just have to see. I was thinking about including him on my own shadow list but dropped him as I honestly didn't consider him to be a serious pick. Considered him to be more of a joke pick than anything else, but with health problems like he has, who's laughing now? Oh well, if he does croak then he'll have done his bit to contribute to the wonderful and frightening world of the deathlist!

    Thoughts On The 2018 List

Didn't actually realise how active Charles Aznavour and Dick Van Dyke still are yet I picked them for my own shadow list! Ronnie Wood, Paul Gascoigne and Mark E. Smith are all IMHO poor picks.

    The 1st Death of 2018

Javier Perez de Cuellar until the day he croaks so I can finally say I have got one of these things right!

I saw him live in 2016. Couldn't make out a word that he was singing, as usual. He looked more like an escapee from a care home than a rock star - and looked closer to 80 than 60. I've got no doubt he's treated his body like shit for decades with booze and fags and god knows what else, so there's always the possibility he could croak it this year. That being said, I still think he'll see 2019 more likely than not.

    Ronnie Wood

My thoughts exactly! Would be surprised if Ronnie Wood doesn't see 2019. What happened to that young Russian chick he was seeing for a while about 10 years ago?

    Ronnie Wood

Only ever heard the Eric Clapton version of that! Thanks

    The 18th Death of 2017

I was thinking we were gonna get an 18th hit but not so sure now to be honest. This month has been pretty crap for deaths - especially considering December is normally a good month for hits and you normally get a few big names around Christmas time at least. Who have we had this month so far? Really only King Mike, Keith Chegwin, Max Clifford, Heinz Wolff and a handful of pornstars. That's well below average for a normal December in death.

    Tessa Jowell

Actually I might have to amend my own shadow list to include her. She seems like a good pick.
  20. There are so many good picks like him that probably won't get chosen because they're just that bit too obscure for the main list.
  21. Definitely looks Deathlistable to me!

    The 18th Death of 2017

Javier Perez de Cuellar till the day he dies. I'm still optimistic for an 18th hit.

Who Should Be On The 2018 Deathlist?

I think she was put on because of having a cold last Christmas if I remember rightly? I don't think she's likely to go before 2020 at the absolute earliest and Philip will almost certainly go first, but even he is still in excellent health for his highly advanced age! So yeah, I'd say she's safe to drop for 2018 and probably 2019 as well but should definitely be put back on from 2020 onwards and then kept on permanently.
