Everybody that lives in Canada, everybody that owns the soundtrack and everybody who is a fan of Jim Carrey and/or Jeff Daniels .

Wow! I love that song too. Some people might remember that one too because it was on the Dumb and Dumber soundtrack. I might go as far as to say their cover of it is better than the XTC original (although I love both versions).

Also, they tend to play a lot of Streetheart and these other bands that are alike on the radio not only here but in other places in Canada. They are legendary in terms of Canada Also (I say also wayyyyyyyy too much), I forgot to link a video of it when I mentioned Brad Roberts, so here he is performing the song that most people know by CTD. This was 7 years ago. For comparison, have them in like, 1994 or something:

Talking about Winnipeg musicians, maybe we should watch Brad Roberts of the Crash Test Dummies (I think hes an alcoholic, but he sounds like shit now)

He was also in Big. I haven't seen that movie in forever so I don't remember what role he had but yeah, I do remember him. -

He seemed to have garnered a little bit of more fame from the internet meme that went around this year (We Are Number One).
-
Mind you they are still performing a final farewell show in tribute to Kenny in Winnipeg with Honeymoon Suite and a couple of others.

Canadian singer Kenny Shields of Streetheart dies He was 69 (article says 70 for some reason) He had been sick for a little while: "Kenny, as some of you may know and many have speculated on, has a very sick heart. In lay terms, he has approximately 20 per cent efficiency on the left side of his heart, which has caused his right side to become damaged in an attempt to compensate," said Jeff Neill Kenny Shields passed away peacefully this morning at a hospital in Winnipeg, his bandmate Jeff Neill has announced. This is just a regional obit, here's a national obit (national as in a Canadian obit): http://globalnews.ca/news/3614655/kenny-shields-streetheart-passes-away/ Also, here's another one that shows what illness he was going through https://ca.news.yahoo.com/canadian-rock-legend-kenny-shields-141234356.html -
Good contender for 2018.

44 years ago today, Bruce Lee entered the dragon. He was 32 -
Exactly. I don't think Chester had ever revealed publicly that he has depression or anything, so we will have to wait for the band statement to see what was happening.

Damn, Hybrid Theory is a solid record. RIP. Also, I came here to make that One Step Closer joke >.>

Yes, he is very notable and very prolific. I have him on my longlist. I just looked up some of the notable hits he played on: Eve Of Destruction by Barry McGuire, These Boots Are Made For Walkin' by Nancy Sinatra, multiple Beach Boys songs and more. Good choice for 2017 and if he makes it to 2018 I'd put him on my main 50.

Yes, and they influenced Metallica and many other of the more popular metal/hard rock bands! Also, Sublime/Offspring was a great show. -
Not sure which thread I should put this in but I'll put it here. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/hersh-wolch-dead-heart-attack-1.4208937 Hersh Wolch, who was a "passionate, tenacious" defender of the wrongly convicted, has died of a heart attack at age 77 He was most famous for clearing David Milgaard of the wrongly convicted murder which I will link at the bottom of the post. He helped convict the real killer, Larry Fisher. He was also involved in numerous other cases such as Steven Truscott. Wiki for Hersh: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hersh_Wolch Wiki for Milgaard: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Milgaard Also, I'd just like to note that David Milgaard is the subject of one of Tragically Hips' most famous songs, Wheat Kings. David Milgaard is a very interesting story for sure.

No, she's black as in the J-Roc level of black "there's levels of black y'know wha'im sayin'? you've got your Lionel Richie who's kinda black but not really and you've got your Michael Jackson who's black and white" -
Sorry about that, I was a little bit unclear on the media mass/tabloid article rules like this. I'll know from now on, thanks Zsa Zsa.

This year really is the year of movie/tv deaths, and 2016 was the year of music deaths. Vera and company, you guys might be safe for awhile. -

Jimmy Carter out of hospital to attend the 8 am devotional at the build site of Habitat for Humanity, then left for further rest. Looks pretty good. There is a couple of pictures here including shaking hands with the Mayor. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/jimmy-carter-hospital-winnipeg-1.4204869?cmp=rss

I guess he (and 2 Live Crew) were more popular overseas, where they are from (Florida). I tend to hear 2 Live Crew songs play a lot here at clubs.
-
should also likely note Fresh Kid Ice.

I drove by the ambulances near where Jimmy Carter was working (yeah, I live in Winnipeg...) Freaked me out since I knew he was here today but glad to hear he is okay!
