Note we have a new player entering for April - ebless. The way I worked it with the last new entry was I said that they could play, bringing the total pool of entries up to 21, but only the first 20 to get their teams in each month would play for that month. I would be reluctant to bring in another newcomer except that I suspect that we have at least one or 2 players who may have dropped out (E Souza and madhatter 2) as they sat out last month, and maybe even a third. So I think we can let ebless in and still stay within our 20. Any objections?

Well, I am very pleased with the support and effort being turned out with this new pool. But I must say, it is getting to be an utter mess. I will make it less complicated next year, by having less restrictions on monthly picks. My intent this year was to make sure that with any given hit, scoring would be spread out. That is, if Julia Roberts went into a coma on March 30 and died a few days later, I didn't want all 20 teams being able to score 5 points. I can see that maybe that is not such a concern, and that enough hits will be scored to spread things out over the course of the game. However, for this year, I do need to simplify the selection of monthly picks in some way. It is tough for me (and everyone else who is trying to create a roster) to avoid rule violations when so many entrants are putting up bad lists and then posting several changes. I think I have sorted it out for the above table, so check it for your team and let me know if I made any errors. But starting next month, each entrant will get ONE team entry per month. If you phuk it up and submit something with a rule violation in it - too bad. Your team is locked in for the month and you will not score any name entered which violates one of the rules. So take your time and make sure your entry is good. As I said in an earlier post, I am already leaving it up to each of you to avoid violations, I will not call you on it unless you get a hit - - then I will make sure you are in compliance before scoring your points. I was hoping to get a full grid this month before posting = less updates needed. But I like to get going too, so here is what we've got so far. Big scoring already with some obviously very black bananas being picked with V Goodwin and E Hannigan. Nice work, we are starting to see who the heavy hitters are going to be in this game. Remember, if you make a mistake with a rule violation (using a name in consecutive months or past use of a name at a given point value), i will not correct it unless it becomes a hit, and then it will be too late to fix it and no score will be given. Yes, we are active, and even have a hit already in March. It's you, with Gillo Dorfles, who was in your 2 pt slot in your second posted list. However, when you updated your first list to correct a rule violation, you moved Stefan KS into the 3rd spot, which resulted in another rule violation. So I am giving you credit for having dorfles at the 2 spot, pending a QO, but reinforcing the rule that when making a change to right a rule violation, only the name in violation can be changed, not the whole list. Who do you want in your 3 spot for March?

Prophet, you are struggling here. SKS is already taken at the #3 spot by Fixed Bus. He was ok at the #4 spot where you originally had him. Now he is taken at spots 1, 2, 3 and 5. A word about fixing your lists when you have a simple rule violation: Please just replace the name at that spot. Don't shuffle your whole list as I am creating a spreadsheet as teams are posted, and it makes more work to recheck for new violations. IMPORTANT NOTICE: Before any March teams start coming in, a word about the rules: Remember you cannot use a name in consecutive months. You cannot use a name in the same point slot that has already been posted for that month. And here is the rule that I may regret: You cannot use a name twice during the year at the same point slot. I can now see, as the game goes on, this rule is going to be extra hard to police. It would involve me checking everyone's new list against all their previous lists. Not too hard now, but in Nov and Dec . . . . . This is a rule that I am thinking about dropping for next year, but for now it is part of the game. So I am leaving it up to each of you to police your own teams and follow the 3 rules. I will only check for violations if there is a hit. If a rule is then found to have been violated, there will be no score and the name will not be allowed a substitution. You may substitute for a rule violation, IF you catch it before it becomes a hit. Also, do not forget that if you submit a team with a dead person already on it, no substitution allowed (the EXU rule). I am pleased with the point progression through the first 2 months. Scoring has been probably a little higher than I predicted, with 11 scores in Jan, and 6 so far this month. I think it is going to be an exciting competition toward the end of the year. Indeed. See the grid updated on this page. Points from previous months are notated (5), points earned in the current month will be preceded by a +. So if you have both it will look like (4 + 2). Also, I am considering letting mad hatter2's entry in for Feb. If one of the two outstanding teams have not submitted a team by the morning of the 11th, I will make it official. Deathray and E. Souza would both still be in the competition, but the last of them to submit a team must sit out for Feb (no scoring). This will carry over into all the following months: the laziest (last) entrant will sit out that month. So it will be a league of 21 teams, with only the first 20 posting each month able to score. This will hopefully speed up the stragglers, and I may well be the odd man out in some months! Any serious objections?
