BBC saying now he'd had a procedure - sounds like a tracheostomy to me. They also say he's expected home in a few days. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-38667118 How the hell any 92 year old is home a few days after such a radical medical intervention is beyond me!

The EU Referendum Hokey Cokey
WednesdayAddams replied to YoungWillz's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
I was in Edinburgh the day of the Scottish referendum. (Have family there) I could have sworn on my own grave it was going to be a Yes. Everywhere you looked, windows, lampposts, letterboxes and all the street furniture was plastered in Yes stickers.Every street seemed to have a Yes information office. You could not move for activists on the streets handing out Saltires and cars with bull horns up and down Princes street proclaiming freedom from Westminster was at hand. I think I saw just four No posters in the whole city. Then the results came in and Edinburgh voted No!! The SNP tried to bully voters with their campaign in Edinburgh, it was very clear to me. They were way too load and in yer face on every corner. I think people revolted against that. These few years down the line and the feeling I am told by my family member is that people, in Edinburgh at least, are even less in love with the SNP. They just need to make it's case more quietly than it has up until now and do more work to address fears rather than shout them down. The Scots do not like bullies and will not stand for them - for an example look at the blokes that pulled a burning terrorist out of the vehicle he crashed into Glasgow airport and then, once they put out the flames on him, then beat 7 shades of s**t out of the sod. -
Have to say that would cross a line for me personally. The reason why I think all this death list lark is a light hearted hoot is because I have no connection to those whose death I am trying to predict. I've got no privileged access to information and I can't upset anyway by contemplating the demise of people I have never met nor will ever meet. Plus it's more challenging than sticking a tenner on a horse. But the caveat, of course, is no one has to adhere to anyone's morals except their own. It's all cool so long as no one gets hurt.

Wow, wasn't expecting this one. ITV Obit. http://www.itv.com/news/2017-01-18/former-england-captain-rachael-heyhoe-flint-dies-aged-77/ -
I bet the news reporters are thinking please don`t die on Friday.Would be a nightmare for them. Oh lordy.... yes I saw those poor journos go into complete apoplexy on Twitter during Brexit week, crying to their mothers etc, asking why god was so cruel as to fit a whole year's politics into one week. I can imagine they haven't recovered yet. If Bush Snr carks in the next couple of days the American journos will get a taste of that.

Yep, dementia is a thing which goes up and down in waves and during moments where the sufferer is perhaps a bit more lucid, they can get angry or scared and highly distressed at times. They are not beyond twatting you with their walking stick as I discovered personally!

My MIL - god rest her - had advanced dementia, which was listed as cause of death, but she didn't have strokes that I remember. She became fairly sedentary and having a buggered hip didn't help either, which led to poor circulation and in turn then led to her picking up infections in her lungs and heart. So it was more or less pneumonia that was the final nail and caused the heart to fail. I would say if someone was an ex athlete like Stiles, their body would be in better condition than my MIL but it will finish him eventually.

I'm good at least. Thankfully for me my skin fries once I go nearer to the equator than Haywards Heath.

I stand corrected, Toast, they call it something else these days. Having checked the Treasury website, Lillibet's incomings and outgoings run to a coma inducing 83 pages available online and I cannot be arsed. Life's too short.

Yeah that's bollocks. If he's successfully impeached by both houses and convicted he'll need to leave office. I shall be delighted, if it happens, to observe the look on Mr Addam's face when he's proved wrong in that case. Interesting times ahead! -

Discussing with Mr Addams - knows everything! - I was told than even impeachment cannot remove him from office against his will. Haven't researched that fully but seems logical. You can forget any notion about him having pride or a sense of honour when faced with his own transgressions because he'll simply deny them - that's a common theme for modern Politicians in all countries, no pride or honour . It could be the Americans are stuck with him no matter what for a minimum of 4 years. Oh dear... -
We could always have a President instead and elect them every so often. That's never gone wrong! Actually, I don't mind keeping them around the place because the tourists do like them, but I am totally in favour of scrapping the civil list and letting them charge per use like when you hire a plumber. They have a right to work of course. Fixed rate for opening Parliaments, entertaining foreign dictators and the Americans could rent them at favourable rates now and again so long as they remove Trump's passport. That could be the first Anglo-American trade deal come to think of it. Given time I could come up with other ideas. But seriously... I don't feel an overwhelming desire to scrap them in the pool of people I mix with. A few years back then perhaps it might have been closer than today. I do think, however, that Charlie is in for a rough time because people don't like him. Interestingly, I sense that if he stood aside in favour of William, there would be huge support for that idea with my immediate circle and William and Kate are making people like the idea of Monarchy even more.

Tampons are so last century, plus everyone is scared of toxic shock and such. Modern girls go for Moon Cups I am told. (That'll keep you Googling for a bit! )

It's all cool. I'm happy to be bringing up the rear. I'll keep you company, Toast. lol

It's actually the 'official' chart not just Morrison's. Don't forget a lot of albums are compilations of old stuff and they'll hit the charts if they are fairly recent releases. Wouldn't surprise me to see stuff like Abba or remasters of Genesis or covers of 'Classics' by people like Alexander Armstrong or what have you lingering around in there. The UK album charts has always been a bit odd like that. -

Morrisons aren't silly, they do know their customer demographic. Yoofs don't buy Snoop Dogg albums in a supermarket. -
I am full of admiration, joeyruss, because even simply scrolling through that lot gave me a migraine.

I'm fully expecting Larry the Downing Street cat to be appointed UK Ambassador to the EU within the week. Nothing surprises me anymore.... and as for Corbyn... I know a Labour policy wonk who is still convinced Ed Miliband will lead Labour into the next election. Make of that what you will! -

With regard to referenda as per the point raised by Thatcher... Most people, if asked, would vote for a free unicorn. Now here's something else to ponder... why is it, do you think, they never ask the public whether we'd like to bring back capital punishment? Moreover, what about a referendum on whether we want to pay for a Monarchy and Aristocracy? Cameron, inconsequential looking little festering carbuncle that he was, could see not further than his nose. Thankfully, though much is made about us not having a Constitution written down in once place, we have a fairly sound series of Laws and precedents which govern our law makers that collectively are a Constitution. It's a noisy little thing when seen in action and it's meant to be. Brexit will come out in the wash I am sure. and most people will be happy. It might take a while though... -
