I'm actually going to go out on limb and say Trump will win 2020.

The Democrats are not unified and if they nominate another moderate (say a Cory Booker type) they'll annoy progressives who are likely going to flee the party again. On the flipside, if they nominate a Sanders-style candidate (say Elizabeth Warren) the more moderate members might get nervous and sit it out.

Whereas on the Republican side Trump will be an incumbent and have the GOP consolidated behind him. I also think he'll moderate his presidency near the end of his term to shore up more support, which is why I think he's going all-out at the moment.

I know it looks unlikely he'll win but people said the same this year and look how that turned out...

There were some other factors that came into play at the last election as well. I think the democrats, both progressive and moderate, will see how bad Trump is and decide that the candidate they have, even if not perfect, is much better than Trump.

Oh aye, and I'm out of here for a couple of days so - I'll sort out due congratulations etc.etc. if we have a winner. If not I'll return to watch the tumbleweeds with the rest of you.

Alright. Have fun with your trip or whatever you're doing.

Short of him dying, re-election landslide in 2020, imo.

I also expect the Republicans to reach the "filibuster proof majority" in 2018 in the Senate.

I don't necessarily think that's true, cause the liberal party will come out with a much stronger candidate. Plus, some members of congress on the republican side are losing their seats because of him.

  4. Best case scenario is that the other countries will push harder to preserve the climate as long as they can, pushing America away from the leadership of a leading country to one that considers America as much as Russia, and view them as an enemy.

Either way, America is definitely fucked.

He did say he would on the campaign trail so why anyone is surprised I dunno.

I'm not surprised, but he's going to kill planet earth by doing this. I was really hoping Tillerson, who actually supported the deal, could talk him out of it, but nope. Trump's psycho mind decided to pull out because he believes global warming is a hoax, when it is absolutely a real thing. I mean, global warming will kill life on earth eventually (in about, say, 1 to 2 billion years), but Trump will reduce that to maybe a hundred years if lucky. Just, kill him someone.

  6. I like the idea of 50 as well in Sean's dead pool. It just allows a lot more diversity in the ages of pick you select, and doesn't force you to just look at the youngest 20 picks for that dead pool. Just my thoughts. It would even allow some personal favorites on even if you have 45 really good picks on your team.

I remember that people were starving for more deadpooling mid-last year. 12 months later, the number of competitions has increased massively and I gave up trying to enter every one. I don't like to enter with a half-baked team anyway and there's only so much time to spend on research anyway.

Well, that's the thing about the revolution of dead pooling. People will try to create more dead pools so that some day they'll have a chance to beat the don himself. They want to get practice, but there's a point where there's so much, people start to get bored of it.

You just aren't human if you don't like or identify with at least one musical...

Generally not a fan of musicals (many of them are way too overblown now a days), but I can always smile watching Singing In The Rain.

  9. Well, here are some more songs to add to the one I had mentioned:

    4 + 20 - Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young

Lonely Financial Zone - Jonathan Richman and the Modern Lovers

Walk Upon The Water - The Move

Phantasmagoria in Two - Tim Buckley

You Wanted A Hit - LCD Soundsystem

I'd Love To Change The World - Ten Years After

    Rave On - Buddy Holly

Up To Me - Jethro Tull

Strange Magic - Electric Light Orchestra

Whipping Post - The Allman Brothers Band

The Stranger Song - Leonard Cohen

The Year of the Cat - Al Stewart

Waltz #2 (XO) - Elliott Smith

    Incinerate - Sonic Youth

    Today - Jefferson Airplane

    The Man - Patto

Jet Boy Jet Girl - Elton Motello

Father and Son - Cat Stevens

    Old Man - Love

A Day In The Life - The Beatles

There's lots more, but these are the songs that I've been playing a ton recently, and I'd definitely want to hear these again.

It was 50 years ago today...

Yippee. It, along the original Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack, were the first albums I got on vinyl a little over a month ago. I love the album, and it's definitely one of my favorite albums of all time (there's just something about it that always grips each time and make me want to listen to the whole thing each time). I should play it right now actually...
