    Paul Gascoigne

I think he’s probably got at least another 5 years or so left in him unless he has an accident. Most hardcore long-term alcoholics seem to die between 55-65 as George Best did.

    Franco Zeffirelli

While we are on Zeffirelli here’s a video from last month of Leonard Whiting and Olivia Hussey as they are now.

    Richard Wilson

He’s done very well to get to this stage, it sounded like he was a goner a few years back.

    Franco Zeffirelli

He’s a really interesting guy - not many Italian gay film directors who have also served as Centre Right politicians

    British Science Fiction Series

Colin Baker and Nicola Bryant were on Celebrity Pointless tonight. As we all are aware Colin is rather rotund these days. Nicola still looks amazing and could easily pass for someone in their mid 40s. Just hoping she avoids the apparent curse of Dr Who 70s and 80s companions which killed off Elizabeth Sladen and Mary Tamm in their 60s and has also effected Janet Fielding and several others.

Would expect Palin to live to a ripe old age.

    Franco Zeffirelli

He should definitely appear on the list next year if he’s still breathing

    Doug Ellis

Presumed he’d died when I saw his name flash up here. Deadly can’t have long to go before he meets the Grim Reaper.

Henry had a meeting with Jeremy Hunt in Washington today.

RIP to a true legend. And one has to say, a very big miss from the Committee.

    Lester Piggott

Lester was handing out the trophies at Haydock today partly as it was the 70th anniversary of his first winner on a Racecourse. He doesn’t look bad for an 82 year old and hasn’t obviously aged much in the past ten years. There’s a photo of him in this article https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/other-sport/horse-racing/teodoro-wins-smarkets-betting-exchange-15011884

Somewhat surprising that no mention is made of ex-team mate Paul Madeley who died earlier in the week.

i.e. not in a Payne Stewart or Tony Lema style plane crash

    Golf: The 19th Hole

About the only one in the last couple of decades I can remember albeit a pretty iconic golfer

    Golf: The 19th Hole

Really do think Peter Alliss has to make the cut next year if he’s still golfing. Have insider information that he’s not at all well and he is nearly 90. He sounded awful on the Open highlights and wasn’t seen on camera which is unusual. Apparently he’s made it clear to the BBC that he’s not going to voluntarily retire and given his length of service no one has the courage to get rid of him. Real case of him trying to carry on to the bitter end which is admirable. A sort of golfing Tommy Cooper.

    Golf: The 19th Hole

Think he was about the only member of the 1981 US Ryder Cup team who hadn’t (and didn’t) win a Major. Golfers generally live to a ripe old age due to their wealth and access to top healthcare so this is a bit of a shocker. Can’t think of many top golfers in recent times who have died naturally under 70.

    Peter Lorimer

Based on current evidence, there’s several big name players from the 1960s and 1970s in worse shape than Lorimer. Dennis Law, Jack Charlton, Jimmy Greaves and Nobby Stiles (how he’s lasted this long is a minor miracle) are clear examples.

    Peter Lorimer

Haven’t they got Lorimer and Hunter mixed up in the photos? Pretty sure Lorimer is the one with the longer and greyer hair. He doesn’t look obviously ill.

    Ian St John

Oh, presumed it was this year. I’d certainly consider Law based on his brief appearance.
  22. Deathrace

    Ian St John

Yes, fairly brief references to Carlisle. Lots of interesting interviews. It appears pretty recent but can’t be exactly sure.

    Ian St John

Appears as a guest on the BBC Shankly documentary which was broadcast this evening. Didn’t look too bad all things considered. Certainly still has his marbles as well. Looks better than Dennis Law who sadly looks awful. Roger Hunt is also interviewed and looks ok and sounds lucid. No sign of the dementia Hunt was reported as having. If he does it must be early stages.

    Rolf Harris

If you are being objective here, you’ve got to say he doesn’t look bad for 88 in those Sun photos especially given his recent incarceration. Could easily pass for ten years younger.

    Paul Gascoigne

Drunk as a skunk and dropping f-bombs on live radio at 8:30 in the morning. Not a great sign for Gazza https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.dailyrecord.co.uk/entertainment/tv-radio/how-f-can-speak-properly-12820694.amp
