    British Character Actors

Conrad is 87, Cranham 79 and Dance 77. I agree that Conrad looks comfortably the best of the three and I expect him to make it well into his 90s. He looks at least ten years younger than he is. Cranham is a well known hell-raiser and has done well to make it this far. None of them look especially unwell in fairness.

Doug Padgett, Yorkshire and England batsman who played two Tests in 1960 has died aged 89.

    Time Added

Agreed. He regularly gives media interviews and sounds very much all there (mostly tributes these days to deceased colleagues). He also looks in good shape physically and could easily pass for ten years younger. With a fair wind, he will hopefully be around for a good while longer.

    Political Frailty

Luton South does actually get amalgamated with parts of rural Bedfordshire in a boundary change that comes into effect at this coming General Election. No chance of Labour losing the seat at this Election given the national picture but in the unlikely event of another Conservative landslide occurring in the next 10 years, it's not completely impossible though unlikely. RIP to Sir Graham Bright.

Noticed she's doing another theatre date in March in Thame https://www.blogcliveconwayproductions.com/post/dame-patricia-routledge-will-perform-facing-the-music-at-the-players-theatre-alongside-edward-seckerson-on-17th-march-2024

James Duddridge looks very different if you compare 2014 to 2023

Pat Toomey (1961) - Republican Senator for Pennsylvania 2011-23, is another one.

    Michael Schumacher

Sadly he probably doesn't even know what his own name is. Just awful.

    The Boys Of '66

I may have missed something but the only one of the five remaining 1966 West German final XI who I have seen making a TV tribute to Beckenbauer was this from Wolfgang Overath https://www.ardmediathek.de/video/aktuelle-stunde/overath-groesster-fussballer-den-wir-in-deutschland-hatten/wdr/Y3JpZDovL3Nwb3J0c2NoYXUuZGUvNGJhNjZkMjAtOTZmOS00OGE3LWExZWMtM2Q2NTNlNjhmM2Ni

    Ideas and possibilities for 2025

He technically "died" on the operating table a couple of decades ago but has made a decent recovery. He's still doing one man shows in theatres this year so I'm not sure he's at death's door.

    David Pleat

Pleat is pictured here at yesterday's game at the top of Jim Ratcliffe's head. He appears slightly better than the photos from March 2023. I also doubt he lives that near to Manchester so clearly he is well enough to travel fairly long distances to games. Hopefully he has a few years left.

    Sven-Göran Eriksson

He doesn't look at death's door in his interview with the BBC but pancreatic cancer is brutal. Very sad news as everyone says what a nice man he is.

    Political Frailty

This doesn't sound good for Tony Lloyd MP (Labour MP for Rochdale) who has had a lot of health issues in recent years

    Sven-Göran Eriksson

You'd have to say England football team managers haven't had great success. Winterbottom (88), Greenwood (84), Venables (80), Robson (76) and Ramsey (79) did ok but none have made it into their 90s. But Revie (61) and Taylor (72) both died relatively early while Glenn Hoddle has had a brush with death on his 61st birthday.

    Sven-Göran Eriksson

75 for a bloke in a developed country is an average age. You can't complain too much if you get a terminal diagnosis as a 75 year old but you can't say you've been especially lucky either.

I've seen various people on social media say that Terry Kilburn is about the only living person who was genuinely famous before WW2 in the UK.

    Political Frailty

Sad to see Neil Kinnock obviously and understandably distraught about Glenys but you'd have to stay he looks good for 81 in this interview

    49. Franz Beckenbauer

Sepp Maier was in the West Germany 1966 squad. Probably a decent bet to be one of the last survivors for squad members from that tournament

To me he looks better here than he has for years. As long as he doesn't lose loads more weight I wouldn't be concerned.

One down (Beckenbauer), five more West Germans for Sir Geoff to outlast.

It's Idris Elba talking about knife crime. Worthy as that is, it's not of big interest here I suspect.

    Only Fools And Horses

Just watched the 1982 OFAH episode "No Greater Love" and quiet surprised that the actress who played Rodney's love interest (Gaye Brown) and the actor who played her violent husband (David Daker) are both still alive aged 82 and 88 respectively.
